Strange_Stray_Cat I was just watching CNN about the situation with Iraq.
Seems to me there will be war by the end of this week.

What do you guys think about that? I say:
"George Bush has the IQ of a peanut and I want Highwire on the setlist!!"

Are you with me??

Highwire (Jagger/Richards)

We sell em missiles, We sell em tanks
We give em credit, You can call the bank

Its just a business, You can pay us in
crude
You love these toys, just go play out your
feuds

Got no pride, dont know whose boots to lick
We act so greedy, makes me sick sick sick

So get up, stand up, out of my way
I want to talk to the boss right away
Get up, stand up, whose gonna pay
I want to talk to the man right away

We walk the highwire
Sending the men up to the front line
Hoping they dont catch the hell fire
With hot guns and cold, cold nights

We walk the highwire
Sending the men up to the front line
And tell em to hotbed the sunshine
With hot guns and cold, cold nights

Our lives are threatened, our jobs at risk
Sometimes dictators need a slap on the wrist

Another Munich we just cant afford
Were gonna send in the eighty-second airborne

Get up, stand up, whos gonna pay
I wanna talk to the boss right away
Get up, stand up, outta my way
I wanna talk to the man right away

We walk the highwire
Putting the world out on a deadline
And hoping they dont catch the shellfire
With hot guns and cold, cold nights

We walk the highwire
Putting the world out on a deadline
Catching the bite on primetime
With hot guns and cold, cold nights

Get up! Stand up!
Dealer! Stealer!
Hey!

We walk the highwire
We send all our men into the front lines
Were hoping that we backed the right side
With hot guns and cold, cold nights

We walk the highwire
We send all the men up to the front lines
And hoping they dont catch the hellfire
With hot guns and cold cold, cold, cold,
cold nights

We walk the highwire
We walk the highwire
With hot guns and cold, cold, cold nights

With hot guns and cold, cold nights

glencar What unmitigated horsepuckey. Someone's got to put a stop to the Saddam nonsense. Others are a wee bit compromised (as usual) so it's up to the US as usual.
03-17-03 01:55 PM
LadyJane I'm not a huge fan of George W, nor do I like war. That said, I FULLY SUPPORT THE TROOPS FROM ALL NATIONS THAT ARE ABOUT TO PUT THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE TO MAKE THE WORLD A SAFER PLACE FOR ALL OF US. To those of you that oppose war and President Bush, be very thankful that you have the RIGHT to speak freely. Remember that the people of Iraq do not have such a right!!

Strange_Stray_Cat Oh, a storm is threat'ning
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Oh yeah, I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Ooh, see the fire is sweepin'
Our very street today
Burns like a red coal carpet
Mad bull lost its way

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

Rape, murder!
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away

The floods is threat'ning
My very life today
Gimme, gimme shelter
Or I'm gonna fade away

War, children, it's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
It's just a shot away
I tell you love, sister, it's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
It's just a kiss away
Kiss away, kiss away

Fiji Joe Hmmm...who thinks it's time for Fiji to post the Horst Wessel song?...Hell, I'm a wee (that's Irish ey) surprised you guys haven't broken out in your "Down Down USA" chant...

Oh the dirty little secrets that will be revealed when this war is over...and isn't that what we really fear?

Strange_Stray_Cat I sent you a pm joe

Moonisup I hate wars
but at this point, I think I am in favor of it, however I am ashamed to say it! Due to the bad economy in the world, war can solve that, and well after 12 years of asking, their must be a time to say, Hey you stop it!

but well war without UN-support, NO!
03-17-03 05:23 PM
glencar Rik, I don't think we need a war to prop up anyone's economy. But we need to get rid of Saddam because of his weapons gathering. I really wish the coalition had UN backing too but the idiots running *certain* countries won't allow it. I trust that this war will be pretty quick & relations will heal even more quickly.
03-17-03 05:29 PM
glencar Thanks Alex! That's what friends are for(as the sappy song says...).
03-17-03 06:17 PM
Scot Rocks I agree, a pre emptive strike against a country posing no threat, where innocent people will get killed. The arguments don't persuade me, I worry more about other things than Iraq.

Cheers

Mark

Yeah, that's my take on it, too. Yes, I've decided, I think this guy's a maniac and getting rid of him would be a good measure. But without the UN's support? Uhm... that ain't smart.

-tSYX --- It's a struggle, baby!

sirmoonie Just in! Hot off the Freedom presses: Australia to commit troops to coalition!

Say CHEERS MATE!

C'mon say it. And smile. You know its a good thing no matter what side of the Iraq issue you are on.

CHEERS MATE!

steel driving hammer was born in a war
So they call me a war baby
I was born in a war
And it don't make me war crazy
And the guns start to roar
As the fire sweeps the street
Crazy

Why can't we walk the road together
And keep our children safe and sure

War - War Baby

And the war made us poor
Made our future unsure
Hazy

Why don't we run this race together
And keep our children safe and sure

But the arms race is on
And the tanks all roll out
All the guns are in place
We just wait for the shout
To arms, to arms

And the guns start to roar From the ship to the shore
And the bombs start to fall
As we crouch in the hall
as they bust through the breach
Out on Omaha Beach

Why don't we run this road together
Why can't we hope to find a cure

But the arms race is on
And the tanks all roll out
All the guns are in place
As we wait for the shout
And the army sweeps on and on
And the navy sails out
As we rush to the edge
As we wait for the shout
To arms, to arms

Great fucking song btw.

So lets see only if the anti American UN supports war? The UN doesn't abide by its own ruling, and is toothless, and sits idley by as people are slaughtered....Yeah sounds like a good idear...

Stonesphile U.N. = UnNatural

The U.N. is propped up by the U.S.A. Their headquaters is on our soil. Our U.S. Congress pays their grossly inflated bills.

The U.N. is populated by third world diplomats all bitching on our doorstep because their countries will never experience the freedom, security & prosperity our nation enjoys because no other governments celebrate a CONSITUTION that mirrors ours.

The UNITED STATES of America does NOT need the sanction of approval or permission of the U.N. to attack Iraq. We decide what action our military takes.

Hussein is insane. H.W. should have finished his lame ass off in 1991! I am NOT a hawk - BUT: a) we don't need no stinking permission for squat & b) Hussein is a known despot! GET REAL all of you Iraq apologists!

What gets me the most, is all of the eco-damage he committed against his own neighbors when retreating from Kuwait! And the areAraBasturds LET HUSSEIN GET AWAY WITH ALL OF HIS WAR CRIME ACTIONS.

I no sympathy or respect for any deluded twit that cannot see this demonic tyrant needs to go the way of the dinosaur! PEACE B with U all.
03-18-03 04:27 AM
Doxa Strange Stray Cat, I agree with you, totally.
03-18-03 06:50 AM
JaggaRichards The UN is about as relevant as a Herman's Hermits album.
03-18-03 07:12 AM
glencar Yet not half the fun!
03-18-03 09:28 AM
sirmoonie The UN bashing was started some time ago by those concerned with things like "world government" and the Trilateral Commission. Same people who think the Rapture is coming and Armaggedon is just around the corner.

Then, through various misinterpretations and downright idiocy, it became a slogan of some supporters of the Republican party.

No true conservative would advocate the demise of an organization that has been so vital to U.S. interests over the years.

Lazy Bones One day it just may be Keith and the cockroach...

John Brown went off to war to fight on a foreign shore.
His mama sure was proud of him!
He stood straight and tall in his uniform and all.
His mama's face broke out all in a grin.

"Oh son, you look so fine, I'm glad you're a son of mine,
You make me proud to know you hold a gun.
Do what the captain says, lots of medals you will get,
And we'll put them on the wall when you come home."

As that old train pulled out, John's ma began to shout,
Tellin' ev'ryone in the neighborhood:
"That's my son that's about to go, he's a soldier now, you know."
She made well sure her neighbors understood.

She got a letter once in a while and her face broke into a smile
As she showed them to the people from next door.
And she bragged about her son with his uniform and gun,
And these things you called a good old-fashioned war.

Oh! Good old-fashioned war!

Then the letters ceased to come, for a long time they did not come.
They ceased to come for about ten months or more.
Then a letter finally came saying, "Go down and meet the train.
Your son's a-coming home from the war."

She smiled and went right down, she looked everywhere around
But she could not see her soldier son in sight.
But as all the people passed, she saw her son at last,
When she did she could hardly believe her eyes.

Oh his face was all shot up and his hand was all blown off
And he wore a metal brace around his waist.
He whispered kind of slow, in a voice she did not know,
While she couldn't even recognize his face!

Oh! Lord! Not even recognize his face.

"Oh tell me, my darling son, pray tell me what they done.
How is it you come to be this way?"
He tried his best to talk but his mouth could hardly move
And the mother had to turn her face away.

"Don't you remember, Ma, when I went off to war
You thought it was the best thing I could do?
I was on the battleground, you were home . . . acting proud.
You wasn't there standing in my shoes."

"Oh, and I thought when I was there, God, what am I doing here?
I'm a-tryin' to kill somebody or die tryin'.
But the thing that scared me most was when my enemy came close
And I saw that his face looked just like mine."

Oh! Lord! Just like mine!

"And I couldn't help but think, through the thunder rolling and stink,
That I was just a puppet in a play.
And through the roar and smoke, this string is finally broke,
And a cannon ball blew my eyes away."

As he turned away to walk, his Ma was still in shock
At seein' the metal brace that helped him stand.
But as he turned to go, he called his mother close
And he dropped his medals down into her hand.
