FPM C10 WHA-a-a-a-T??? Todd Rundgren is leading "The New Cars"? Is this some kind of joke?

I could care less about the Cars PERIOD, but if Ric Ocasek isn't involved, it's a joke anyway. The other main guy, Ben Orr, is dead. And isn't Elliott Easton dead too?

Y'know, if the New York Dolls got Todd Rundgren to replace David Johansen...uhhh...I can't even finish that thought. The whole thing is too stupid!

Speaking of the New York Dolls, Miss Youngblood found out today that Bo Diddley plays on a song on their new album!

Hey, Bo Diddley!

Saint Sway is they really calling it "The Road Rage Tour"????

Thats even stupider and more pathetic than the pseudo-reunion

"I'm a rage-aholic...I can't live without rage-ahol..." - Homer Simpson

Well, I just went and looked it up. On the New Cars MySpace site! Elliott Easton is done pretending to be Tom Fogerty (d'oh! What a stellar career!) and is now pretending to be Elliott Easton. The other real Car is the keyboard player, and then half of Todd Rundgren's Utopia (Hahaha, I was just making fun of them in a thread about the R&R Hall of Fame recently!) and the Tube's drummer Prairie Prince, last heard from playing in XTC I think. Not to drag XTC into this horrid story!

I guess the New Cars made their debut on the Jay Leno TV program.

WOW! This is reeeeeeeeally LAME!

enough of these cross-band member "reunions". They're not reunions. Cars with Utopia, Queen & Bad Co, Doors with the singer from the Cult. They're all so out of left field. Only Velvet Revolver got it right and made it a NEW band with a new name.

not that I give a shit about the Cars. I think they are as hokey and lame as any band ever. Just fed up with snake oil saleman trying to fool Joe Public with these reunion scams.

and when I think "Road Rage" I dont associate bubblegum Cars diddy's like "Shake It Up" or "Uh Oh Its Magic". If I'm road ragin give me some Motorhead baby.

glencar Vh1 Classic just played a mash-up of "Rapture" & "Riders On The Storm." Interestingly, they then ran an ad for the new Cars tour. Rundgren hasn't aged well.

What is going on?????????

Next we'll have Huey Lewis singing for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Or Eddie Money for AC/DC.

UGot2Rollme I read a quote from Rundgren that said basically, he likes the Cars music, is pals with the band members, and its a solid paycheck. I think his voice suits the music well, but it is a bit bizarre. Elliott Easton is a damn good guitarist. I don't know if I'd pay money to see them, and I think Debbie Harry is looking more like a grandma these days, but hey, it's an interesting double bill.

To answer someone else's query, Praire Prince is the drummer for Jefferson Starship (nowadays Paul Kantner plus a bunch of others who were never in the original band).

Amen on the Motorhead!! The closest Motorhead did what these others are doing is when Robo from Thin Lizzy played guitar with them briefly.

Cheers.
