marko So has anyone of you ever heard, that still life was really
supposed to be a double album, and back in 1982 about 500
wrong pressings got out, with some different songs on it.
And it was pulled back really fast.A some time ago VGP
released a 2cd called "ride like the wind",i really think
that this it the real still life, what we all still want so
bad.
Oh and btw,i read this story, possibly from record collector
sometime around voodoo lounge tour,or even earlier.
Sound of the boot,is exactly the same as it is on still life!
Songs and dates are
Disc 1
1 under my thumb,NJ 5.11.81
2 beast of burden,chicago 25.11.81
3 lets spend the night,,hampton 18.12.81
4 shattered,hampton 18.12.81
5 black limousine,Pontiac 1.12.81
6 twenty flight rock,Largo 9.12.81
7 going to a go go,largo 9.12.81
9 you cant allways,,,pontiac 1.12.81
10 introductions,pontiac 1.12.81
11 let me go,largo 9.12.81
12 time is on my side,hampton 18.12.81

Disc 2
1 let it bleed,new orleans 5.12.81
2 just my imagination,hampton 19.12.81,shortened
3 shes so cold,largo 9.12.81
4 hang fire,phoenix 13.12.81
5 miss you,largo 9.12.81
6 start me up,chicago 25.11.81
7 jumping jack flash,pontiac 1.12.81
8 satisfaction,phoenix 13.12.81
9 star spangled banner,also phoenix

cover says that imagination&miss you are from hampton 18.12.81 show, but they are not.So if anyone is interested,
i could tree this fucker, and also add few more songs,to make
it boards own still life.

tumblingdice make sure to add Tumbling Dice to the set as I see it is missing. Just loved the riffing Keith did on that song on this tour!

T&A This information is not correct. The 500 copies were promotional copies (I have one) of a 2lp set (not called Still Life) sent to radio stations. These were sent out months after the release of Still Life. The concert series is called Superstars in Concert.

full moon Hell yes, Tree this.. Marko, you should still do the " ultimate" tree of the different eras live that you were working on.......
03-16-03 02:01 AM
masoudi tree this please Marko

We Aussie and Kiwi fans would love to hear this. I look forward to hearing what decision you make re the tree idea

Cheers Brendon from New Zealand

marko I did actually read that that wrong pressings got out.
Maybe that info was wrong.I know that radio album,,,its
very rare isnt it?,so that could be the stolen one,or these
both are the one and the same,,after all, still life was supposed to be double album,,but i think it was Jagger who
decided which one it will be,,,
You want more songs to this?let me know which ones.
My another tree,,im still working on it.

Mathijs Parts of the 1981 tour were recorded by the King Biscuit Flower Hour Radio in order to broadcast all over the US, to warm up cities the Stones would play in. Some of these recordings ended up on Still Life too. All recordings are available on many boots for years, but are complete on only one release: Ride Like The Wind by Rattlesnake, which even includes the rare You Can't Always Get What You Want.

According to Bill Wyman, Still Life was only released to stop some bootlegging, and he finds the album the worst the Stones ever did. Well, there's more things I disagree about with Bill!

fmk438j That Rattelesnake Ride Like the Wind is 4 discs too.

It includes a few tracks from that night with Muddy Waters.

Unfortunately my copy is riddled with tics.

steel driving hammer Man what a nice thread to wake up to!

What about the release of "On Top Of Old Smoky"

Read the pressings went wrong there too.

In any event, my burner shit the bed last night.

I noticed crackels near the end of the burned CDR.

Gonna go out and buy some cleaner today and see what happens.

If it still has crackles, I'm going to get a computer CD burner for the 1st time instead of a stand alone. Over 3 years, I've gone through 4 fucking stereo CD burners!
