This guy. When will he stop? He is just a moron. He realizes Oasis isn't a tenth of the band The Stones were for decades. Also it is very questionable whether Oasis is even on par with our Stones in their 60's! Many would feel they are not. Some would argue. But at least half would say The Stones are every bit as good as Oasis even today.
*It is showing that it hurts when nobody is ever gonna consider Oasis legendary. This is what is killing him, ya know. It is the fact that Oasis isn't ever going to be remotely thought of when mentioning the best bands that ever graced the planet such as The Stones, The Who, Led Zepplin, The Beatles, CCR, The Doors, then you hear ?Oasis?. What a second, this isn't in place. Where did that come from? More to the point it gets a "I hope your joking?". He knows this and it kills him.

Oasis , like many other bands, are more highly regarded in England than the Stones(see Robbie Williams, James Blunt, et al). However, unlike the Stones, they never really caught on over here and it seems, imo, their best days are behind them. We all know they love the Stones and are just trying to grab some attention. Also, while the Stones are certainly the greatest band , even we can concede their output over the last 2 decades has been pretty mediocre at best. Nonetheless, even at 60 plus years, their live shows cannot be touched by those decades younger. While I selfishly wished they could have produced just one more classic album, their mythlogical stature and legacy was long since sealed with the the "big four", and we are still enjoying them as we too age. I almost feel sorry for Oasis as they are relatively young men, who , unlike the Stones, will never have a lasting impact outside the UK.
As far as U2, grudingly, I admit they will have a lasting impact as they , like the Stones, have a global presence. However, no band will ever have the ability to do what Jagger/Richards et al.. have and continue to do to audiences...it more than a show and only "we" fans truly understand and "get it".

The days of pasty faced Englishmen, with greasy hair, mono-brows, dirty parka's and accents thicker than treacle, making an impact in America are long, long gone.
Oasis sold 2 nights at Madison Square? Impressive. Whats that, 40,000? And the population of NY is? What? About 14 mill? Sounds pathetic really.
From an Aussie's point of view, it is incredibly interesting to see the amazing divide between U.S. pop culture and the rest of the world. Here, we get smattering of both, plus our own pub-rock culture. Of course, dance is huge here too. But, to see Robbie Williams, who is a Dema-God in U.K./Europe be Mr. Zero in U.S. is facinating. Same with our own Kylie Minogue, is really just purely for the fags in U.S.
I think the urban hip hop rap stuff has really found an audience and entrenched itself in the U.S. Here in Oz, all that rap stuff is adopted by Pacific Islanders, Aboriginals, and ethnic groups like Turks & some middle eastern 3rd generation immigrants. Alot of chicks are into it, mainly sluts.
Asians love the dance music. Alot of white chicks too, but thats probably because of the drugs. Dance has really died here in the past year or so. Especially amongst white males.
And the poor Anglo-Saxon kids either cling to "college rock" IE: WOlfmother, Airborne, Powderfinger. Or heavy metal - which is purely 100% only for white people (here at least).
As for MY music, well, its for Grandma and Grandpa now. Not one person under 30 really gives a flying fuck about the Stones touring. Sad but true.
Oasis were massive here, but have died right out. There last tour here 4 months or so ago was very low key. They played here in Melbourne at Festival hall. Festival hall is the WORST venue in Australia. The Beatles played there in 64, and i doubt any renovation has occurred there since. |

Okay, you've made your point, but why do you even care? As I've stated time and time again, he's been at it for over a decade, and NO, he'll never stop. Rubbish he may spout, but it's his opinion and it's part of "his act". It’s what’s expected. I actually think interviews with him would be far less entertaining if he had nice things to say! When he's slagging of whoever, I don't think it registers with anyone other than people like you. These slurs are coming out of Liam Gallagher’s gob. I don't think anyone really cares and no, the reason behind these so called "attacks" on other celebrities have NOTHING to do with the reasons you've been so kind to point out. This interview in question was conducted recently and in fact; he was mainly having a pop at David Beckham, claiming that he thought he was gay. The Stones comments were just a side note. |

When I first saw that headline, I thought it was the comedian that would smash water melons into the audience. He's way more talented than those Oasis poseurs.

I saw Oasis open for U2 in Oakland back in '97. Liam was sure kissing U2's ass then thanking them for the priviledge of opening. |

I'm curious to know what the Arctic Monkeys think of Oasis.
Haven't the Monkey's blown away Oasis and just about every other band for most U.K. sales of a debut album? |

Oasis are playing some American dates this month and guess who's opening at least one of the shows! The Artic Monkey's!
I like the band. I finally got round to purchasing their album last week. Yes, it's all hype at the moment, but they really are quite good.
As far your last comment... probably.
