Rolling Stones To Play China

Official Press Release

(March 6, 2003)-As part of their Licks World Tour the Rolling Stones will visit China for the first time. The Rolling Stones are the only major rock band to have been granted permission to perform in China. This is thanks to the successful efforts of China Association of Special Arts and Madame Chen of The Beijing Time New Century Entertainment Co., Ltd, who were the promoters of the 3 Tenors in the Forbidden City. The China Association of Special Arts is an organization which supports handicapped artists in China. The Rolling Stones China tour will assist in raising awareness for the organization and funds for handicapped artists in China. The fundraising efforts will entail two concerts, a major banquet and an auctioning of special memorabilia, all part of the marketing of special VIP packages.

April 1st Shanghi Grand Strage
April 4th Beijing Workers Arena

The event is also an important part of the "Think UK" series by the British Embassy in China. The embassy is holding various art and cultural events in order to promote British culture, creativity and originality in China now through October 2003.

Madame Chen, of The Beijing Time New Century Entertainment Co., Ltd., said, "It may only be rock'n'roll, but the Stones tour to Shanghai and Beijing will become yet another milestone in China's modern cultural history. Their first appearance in China will show the world that China is a country of openness and prosperity. It's an opportunity for China to know the world better and the world to know China better."

Michael Cohl, Rolling Stones Tour Director said, "With every tour the Stones break new ground bringing their music to millions of fans. This tour to China will be one of the final frontiers for fans to experience the thrill and joy of the Stones in concert."

The seats for the Rolling Stones Beijing Concert can be reserved from Beijing Time New Century Entertainment Co., Ltd. The correct ticket prices range from 280-3000yuan. In addition, VIP packages will be available at 6000yuan and serve as the primary fundraising event for the China Association of Special Arts.
