Topic: Great header! Ron with his favorite guitar. Return to archive

guitarman53 How many people are Fender Stratocaster fans! Ron has a guitar that sounds fantastic! I'm not sure of the age of the instrument, but it's that old Rock ' N ' Roll sound, Keith doesn't play stratcasters to much anymore, but Ron does.

Sister Morphine Ron playing stratcaster is just.....overwhelming!
I think I've rarely seen anybody who does it better than him!

But I must come back for a little more,

Mr Jurkka Im fender stratocaster fan.. actually i own one of those.. really beauty! 70's strato with very powerful pickups.

That picture is really cool looking.. fender 50's strat
its like the guitar and ronnie are one and the same. They like melt together.

He always uses one for "miss you" as well.

I prefer Teles myself.

I wonder why neither of them play a les paul or an SG anymore. They would kill on songs like Bitch and Satisfaction. I don't think either of them ever played an SG actually. I know Jagger and Taylor did a few times.

yeah i prefer Teles myself - ive got a thinline myself, adds a bit more sustain. I can't recall Keith or Ronnie using an SG. I think Keith last used Les Pauls on the Voodoo Lounge Tour, as far as i know.

mrhipfl Anybody know what kinda guitar Ron's playing here?

go to 2:52 for a good shot. Even the pick-ups look strange.

sweetcharmedlife I was at this show. This was the show where their were fierce rumours on here and the other stones message boards that Ronnie Wood wouldn't be there. Because he would be in England for the funeral of his brother. This was everywhere. Blonide Chaplin was going to replace him supposedly for the night. So after flying down that day from San Francisco I was a little nervous that Ronnie would'nt be there. Or even worse cancel the show. Espicially considering Jagger's recent throat problems. So not only was I pleasantly surprised when they came out and Ronnie was in his customary spot. But really happy after a kick ass show.

open-g Ronnie plays a blue SG

Sheffield, Rocks Off Header

Keith plays his Mary Kaye Strat quite regulary...
Ronnie does not only have one of those 50's Strats - actually quite a bunch with some Stand-ins.
there was a cool clip on YouTube where he talked about his main gear, but you guessed it - it's been removed by those tossers.
