Angiegirl From nu.nl:

English translation (sort of ):

AMSTERDAM - No artist in Great Britain has sold so much singles as Cliff Richard. The makers of The Ultimate Pop Star, a program of the TV station Channel Four, have calculated the sales.

Richard (63) has been seen in the Top 20 almost fifty times and sold almost 21 million singles. With these figures, he just beat the Beatles (20,799,632 sold singles). Elvis Presley ended up in 3rd place with more than nineteen million singles sold.

Others in the Top 10: Madonna, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Queen, ABBA, Paul McCartney and David Bowie. The Rolling Stones only managed to get to the twelfth position in the list, with 8.3 million singles sold, behind Rod Stewart, but just before Kylie Minogue.

Again I say: huh? WTF?
Europeans aren't very rock 'n roll?
Why? Are you European?

And I still don't understand what you mean (if anything at all) with regard to the article I posted.
O nevermind...

corgi37 I swear to the beer God, that i have a book stating the Stones received 22 gold discs in 1965 for sales of 1 million each. I just cant find the bloody thing. Its a real fan boy book written in 1969 that i knocked off from my shcool library waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 1980. But, on further reflection, let me add.
1. By 1965, the Stones had only really 3-4 singles that were big, ie: Satisfaction, Last Time, Red Rooster, All over now.
2. The writer (who wasnt very good), might have meant "world-wide" sales. As i said, its been a while since i have read the book.
3. Maybe i am just full of shit.
4. If above is applicable, then i am sorry.
