Some Guy It would have to be in Blow. The opening with cyhmk, makes me giddy. I just! bought Blow today on DVD, can't believe I didn't get this disc earlier. We're expecting an inch or two of snow tonight in Atl (always a celebration). Can't wait to CRANK this shit out.

Angiegirl I still don't understand they didn't use Sympathy in the Dreamcatcher movie (money issue?). The song plays an important role in the book (by Stephen King). The movie sucked anyway.

Bloozehound Some Guy you stole my fire, I was going to post this exact topic the other day, but got tied up with something and forgot.
Anyways, Scorsese wrote the book on how to incorporate a great Stones tune into a great movie scene.
One of my fav's is in Mean Streets.
If memory serves correct(haven't seen the flick in yrs, but I remember this one scene being particularly cool) it's a scene at the bar, Deniro enters in slow motion & Tell Me is playing in the background.
Something about this scene is just classic.
Others films of Scorsese's make great use of the Stones, in fact cyhmk is featured in Casino and is used very effectively as well.
Lot's more come to mind(especially in the nam' flicks), but I'll give others a chance to post them.

stonedinaustralia about the only good thing in antonioni's "zabriske (sp?) point" is the fact that "you got yhe silver" is in the soundtrack

fleabitpeanutmonkey Great topic... and I'll never forget Sympathy For The Devil during the suicide scene in Comin' Home.

You gotta know that many filmmakers would have loved to use various Stones' songs in powerful scenes but they just couldn't or wouldn't pay for the rights. Too bad really.

Lazy Bones CYHMK is also used in Casino.
02-25-04 10:23 PM
parmeda Devil's Advocate w/Pacino & Keanu...
Closing credits are accompanied by Paint It Black.

Made my hair stand on end.

Gimme Shelter - Air America

Jumpin' Jack Flash - Night Shift (Michael Keaton cruises around in his pimpmobile listening to a live version of this)

fleabitpeanutmonkey A mourner playing the organ in the funeral scene of The Big Chill. Sounds familiar... a few of the mourners exchange knowing looks of recognition and the sound of the organ is mixed into the intro of You Can't Always Get What You Want. A great scene indeed.

Mr T I can't think if any besides Blow
02-25-04 11:55 PM
stonedinaustralia JJF played as the credits rolled at the end of "fear and loathing in las vegas" - actually if that film was true to the book "ya's ya's" would have been going in the background almost constantly

PIB on Devil's Advocate is great too!!
