jigsawpuzzle Mick and Peter Wolf...(J. Giels Band) What kind of frienship did they share? I remeber reading reading in a book they used to go out to the audience and sit and have fun. Ibelieve during the '81 tour...

And they did "Nothing But The The Wheel

Bob Tamp Jagger also sang back up on a track called Pretty Lady on Wolfe's first solo outing? LIGHTS OUT which came out in the mid eighties.
Wolfe was married to actress Faye Dunaway for years so they probably connected in the mid-seventies during the jet setting days.
The J'Geils band was often described as the American version of the Stones, and I remember Wyman praising them back as early as 1972 or 1973.
Wolfe truly is a white master of black music and he knows his influences. If you ever heard him dee jay on WBCN in Boston he would play authentic old blues like Little Walter etc. He knows his shit.
I drunkingly walked right into him at the TD Bank garden show on 1-13-2006. He was also at the Fenway Park rehearsals, and partied with Mick during the Voodoo Lounge stop in Boston in 1994.
If you grew up in Boston area, Geils was huge. The later albums like Freeze Frame sold very well, but commercialism/pop kind of diminished their legacy with us old timers.

Bitch Peter was a VIP at the NY Press Conference and at the MSG shows, I saw him walking around by the stage. Maybe they hang out when MICK is in NY. Peter is part of the social in-crowd, and MICK is a socialite so I say they have that in common, besides the music industry.

nankerphelge I remember years ago, Peter was hosting some "Party 101" thing for VH1 or MTV or some similar type thingy.

Anyhowe, he walks into a record store to get some music for this party and which record bin does he head to immediately??

Hint: Not J. Geils

That's right -- THE STONES

pulls Out of Our Heads out of the bin, holds it up to the camera and says "You cannot have a real party without some of this"

I was truly impressed.

lotsajizz if you're a New Englander....Geils are Gods....they were 10% of the playlists of our FM stations in the 70's (or so it seemed)

VoodooChileInWOnderl In addition to the above-mentioned the J. Geils Band was the opening band for the Stones during some shows of the European leg 1982

Not just that, at the end of the 1982, tour Peter Wolf and Keith Richards formed a doo-wop group called "The Original Carltones" with Keith and Peter on Vocals!! Other members were Ronnie Wood, Seth Justman and Bobby Keys. The name was because the band was formed at the Carltone Hotel in London, the band's only gig was on Mick's Birthday in 1982

Great Danny has a website, last time I saw him was in a blues bar in Hartford and we had a long conversations and some beers after his set, he's a great guy and very simple and authentic he deserves more than that!

Nellcote The Mighty J. Geils Band are legends.
The live shows were moments of wonder.
They got together last June, a surprise for DK's birthday.
I've only seen the Stones more, so that makes 20 for Geils.
I've been lucky to meet Peter Wolf twice, he is a genuine treasure.
It's not unusual to find him walking the streets of Bahston, on any given day.
When the Stones were here last fall, Woody sat in at Wolf's recording session, to lay some guitar on Wolf's next disc
True story of one show...
My buddy found his way backstage at a Wolf show we went to
after Sleepless came out, in Plymouth MA. Wolf came running off from his first set, bottle of champagne in hand.
He tripped on a power cord, right into by buddy's arms.
Never dropped the bottle, thanked my buddy him numerous times. Came out after for a meet & greet.
Second time, Hard Rock Cafe-Boston New Years Eve, same year.
Wolf put on a blistering show, ran 'round the room during Give It To Me, high fiving folks, had a conga line working the room. After the show, he met folks, talked do-wop music for at least 90 minutes.

Nellcote That is a great photo, George Thorogood next to Wolf..

VoodooChileInWOnderl Mick Jagger and Keith Richards are guests at Wolf's Sleeples

Mick sings and plays harmonica on "Nothing but the wheel" and Keith sings and plays guitar on "Too Close Together"

VoodooChileInWOnderl I scanned this picture a long time ago with the intention to use it as a header.

The pictures are in fact only one but in two parts, one on each page; I had the plan to edit it to put Mick and Peter together but didn't have time so here it is as scanned from the mag
