Sir Stonesalot I would like to officially announce that I have absolutely no opinion on the Academy Awards or the TV broadcast of said awards show. I simply don't give a flying fuck.

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter.

Steamboat Bill, Jr. One worthy thing about the Oscars is that the money the Academy makes off of their Neilsen ratings goes towards the preservation and restoration of our film heritage. Even if you don't give a shit about the Oscars, it's not a bad idea to at least leave one of your TV sets tuned to it.

Flags of our Fathers was one of the best films I've seen out of Hollywood in years. Is it getting snubbed?

I'm surprised, I thught the stuff was funny... all the wrong shit, just all piled up, leading to that climatic dance scene...
What was it that you didn't like? The acting, the writing?

I need to change my posts. It makes it look like I didn't like the movie. I was only trying to say that it wasn't as great as everyone was/is claiming it to be.
I liked this movie...it just didn't totally "wow" me.
25th February 2007 04:28 PM
gimmekeef Was there a "wow" movie made this past year?

I didn't know anything about it when I saw it, my wife said she heard it was funny, I had no idea it was Oscar nominated...
Sometimes that makes a difference for me, I might not have even watched it if i knew it was hyped ect...

Of the movies I saw last year, not many gave me that "wow" feeling... Not sure if these are 2006 movies, but they're movies i saw last year...and really liked!
Hostel
Downfall
Notorious Bettie Page
Thank You For Smoking
Derailed Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

I'm sure some of these came out in 2005, I only rent, rarely go to the movies unless I'm taking my kids, then it's Happy Feet ect...

I'm thrilled!

guitarman53 I sure hope "Babel" don't win, I downloaded it, & the 1st 30:00 isn't even in English, it's crap, 4 different stories that don't even make sense, from 4 different events, most of it isn't even in English, I was going turn it off about 3 times, but decided to stick with it, & see the whole thing for myself.
I hope "The Queen" wins as best picture.
