Topic: El Mocambo 77 - What do the Stones say in between the songs? Return to archive
17th February 2007 07:02 AM
Chris74 In between the songs they comment something. Jagger like "I feel I have stroken everybody" .. what is that? And then introduces everybody-
"Keith composely competes strike"...? about Bill "Bill Wyman just want to take photographs of girls ...."? what's that?
after that Keef or Ronnie says something like "and they are all punks for us Jagger yeah?" ... what is that exactly?

Can anybody please "translate" these comments?

Many thanks

"I feel I have stroken everybody"
I feel like stroking everybody, stroke me Billy. (stroking in touching)

"Keith composely competes strike"...?
Keith of course is completely straight (meaning Keith of not homosexual, and not on drugs. Pun intended.

"Bill Wyman just want to take photographs of girls ...."?
Bill Wyman just wants to take photographs of girls their legs

"and they are all punks for us Jagger yeah?"
And old bum's rush Mick Jagger (some one with a "bum's rush" is somebody who can't sit still, who is very energetic).

Fabio Hot Stuff Thank guys, this is one of my favourite post!
For many long years I 've tried to understand the El mocambo lp side!
now I have the bootleg on cd but It's really hard to "understand" the words between the song for me, that I'm italian.
Thanks!
why don't put on th thread all the conversation???
for me should B a gift!

fireontheplatter one of my favorite lines is..."if you feel like dancing....wait"
and then they bust into ..cracking up...which is one of my favs from the record
17th February 2007 08:48 AM
Mel Belli And don't forget "Ronnie Wood is gay"!

Is it correct?

Nellcote Side 3 of this lp I will be reciting
to everyone in the nursing home they place
me in when I loose my mind. It's about the greatest piece of live music ever released by the Stones.
I expect to be full slayed for that comment, however
the raw energy, great playing, super sharp
recording of these four tracks is astonishing.
When we took a road trip from Massachusetts to Buffalo
in '78 to see the Stones in Buffalo, I packed on one addtional day to go to the El Mocambo, just to see it.
We had drinks & lunch there, then just drove back to Buffalo, to await the show.
Everything alright in the critics section?

no night together thanks a lot guys, I've been wondering for years as well.

while we're on, there's another couple of lines I can't work out, my kiwi team mates can't pick it either:I kinda

billy, where's billy ...=?^=?^^ album proper..

or something similar. before little red rooster.

Gazza The guy in the audience who shouts "Billy!!" during the band intros has one of the broadest Belfast accents I've ever heard.

I know we've quite a few 'emigres' in Toronto, so I guess he's one of them. Lucky bastard getting into THAT show.
19th February 2007 10:55 AM
z "That's Billy...Billy is very open for offers...I wouldn't say he's up for grabs but open for offers...
Ollie Brown is dead open...Charlie Watts is sort of maybe..."

I've been wondering teammates for ages in the dressing room. Looks like you got to know the contest to work out that line. I owe you a pint anyway.

no night together soldatti, i used to wear it, vinyl, tapes, then cd and so on. i dropped it for a while, and since this thread flipped the switch I did dust it off and had another weekend just listening to that side 3. years ago I even went to el mocambo, sat down with ear rings and made a mental script inside my brain. too much maybe

this was on continuous play forever..
all the way through -
one of the best examples of the stones live in a club setting.

killerbitch I remember the thread where you were trying to figure out what some of
the lyrics were to the songs that no one could understand, like what Mick
said. Would like to hear more of this and that too.

corgi37 "Everything alright in the critics section? Got plenty to drink 'ave you? "Ello Margaret, 'ow are you, awright?"

"Around and around" is reason itself to truly believe the Stones rock harder than any other band, yet can swing like a bitch too. Just pure fucking brilliant playing.
26th February 2007 06:39 AM
Zack To get the "bum's rush" is to be tossed out of somewhere. My mom used to say she was giving me the bum's rush when she told me to get upstairs immediately while swatting my bottom.

I always tooks Ronnie's saying "old bum's rush Jagger" as something (homo) sexually allusive as a retalian for Mick's just saying "Ronnie Wood's gay."
26th February 2007 06:44 PM
Soldatti Mick Jagger: ohooo who hooo hoo

Are you feelin' good?

Ya feelin loose now?

Bit more relaxed?

I feel like strokin everybody...stroke me Billy...strike me boy!"

Should we ahh

Should we introduce the band?

Where's Billy? Billy's gone, Billy?

Where's Billy?

Billy's open for offers...

I wouldn't quite say he's up for grabs, but he's open for offers!

Ollie Brown is....

Charlie Watts is a sort of maybe.

Bill Wyman just wants to take photographs of girls' legs!

Ronnie Wood's gay!

Ronnie Wood: And ol'bum's-rush Jagger 'ere!

Mick Jagger: Keith, of course, is completely straight.

Fabio Hot Stuff Thank you Soldati!!!!!

great work

Gazza as far as I'm aware all of the available recordings |(bootleg AND LYL songs) come from the 5th March show as the tapes for the first night were unusable for technical reasons.
