This is only my 2nd or 3rd post here, so I don't know how to make this stick. If someone is able to do that for me, that would be great.
This post is to inform everyone about a tree that I am setting up for a copy of the 01.18.03 Rolling Stones HBO recording.
Because of the volume of e-mail this is going to create, please sign up at this e-mail address:

Please do not respond to this post to sign up - there will be no guarantee you're e-mail will be read and forwarded into the correct e-mail.
I received this recording yesterday from someone on the alt.rock-n-roll.stones Internet Newsgroup - I do not know the exact taping notes, but I have sent an e-mail to find out. When I receive that information, I will post it here as a response. I will say that the recording is excellent.
Here is how it will work...
I will make 7 (seven) copies of this recording - if you would like to take part in the tree:
Remember first and most important - we're on the honor system, so please remember there will be others who will depend on you to fulfill your obligations.
Send an e-mail and state whether you want to be a branch or a leaf
(note - it will take longer to receive your recording if you want to be a leaf)
If you would like to be a branch - state where in the USA (or which Country) you are from
If you would like to be a branch - state how many copies you are willing to make for other leafs
(note - the more copies you are willing to make, the higher up on the tree you will be)
(note.2 - be realistic regarding copies, anywhere from 3-5 is fine)
(note.3 - if there is enough demand [leafs], there may be multiple sets of branches [me, branch1, branch2, branch3...])
If you would like to be a branch - you will be assigned a branch number, smaller branch numbers will be higher in the tree than larger branch numbers
If you would like to be a leaf - you will be assigned a leaf number, smaller leaf numbers will be higher in the tree than larger leaf numbers.
Regardless of whether you want to be a branch or a leaf, please do not send complete mailing information (State or Country is fine). You can provide complete information to your specific branch once the tree begins to take shape.
I will not ask for anything in return from the branches (either in trade form or blanks), it would be nice if those branches did the same for the leafs.
I will leave this e-mail box open until Friday January 31st at 5pm US/Mountain time - at which point I will block all incoming e-mail. Depending on the requests to be a branch, I may have the discs out prior to the 31st (either the 29th or 30th). As the tree begins to form, I will submit a response to this intial post letting everyone know where they stand. I will send update posts on Wednesday evening and Friday morning - the post with the final tree structure will be on Saturday afternoon.
In addition, the offer to take part in the tree is also going out to the alt.rock-n-roll.stones Internet Newsgroup, and the Yahoo! Rolling Stones mailing list.

If I can say one thing and its not a criticism, but rather a "policy" we have. Whilst its a generous offer to make copies without asking for anything in return, any 'tree' we offer here we've requested that the sender receives a trade or B&P from the person sending them the discs. It's standard practice for these things. It's a lot of money for someone to send maybe 20 discs to 10 people with international airmail rates and its not unreasonable for them to have their costs met by the person receiving the discs.
I've e-mailed you separately - presume its a 2-CD set and FM stereo/soundboard sound?

Thax Gazza, you're right. I considered signing up as a branch, but the total costs for say 5 copies (10 cd's), 5 thick envelopes and 5 times postage is too much for me, I have little money. So I'm waiting on a correction from Dan. Dan: if you are sticking with the 'branches carry the costs' rule, I'll have to be a leaf. Please clarify. And thanx for doing the tree, really appreciate it! |

Just an update on the progress of the tree - there will be 9 seed branches:
01 - Europe - UK
02 - Europe - Germany
03 - Europe - France
04 - US - East
05 - US - Southeast
06 - US - Midwest
07 - US - West
08 - Canada
09 - South Pacific
There have not been a lot of replies for 08 and 09, but it is easier to make a couple of extra copies than to try and jam them in the tree under one of the other seeds.
I sent 5 of the 9 seed discs today, and three more will go out tomorrow.
I wrote in my original post that I would include a rough draft of the tree - but I am having a hard time putting it in a format that will display correctly (and I do not want it to be unreadable for everyone). I should have it fixed
by Saturday morning.
If you have already sent an e-mail to sign up and I have not sent a response asking for more information, you're in the tree. If you still want to sign up for the tree - you have a couple of more days. So far, the US portion of the tree is East-heavy - so if there's anybody in the Western half of the country that wants to sign up, please do.
Regarding Angie's comment above - it is up to the branches how they want to distribute the shows to those below them. It's easier for me to send the discs than to wait for something in trade or for blanks/postage.

I think its a great gesture, and though i am a poor corgi, i'll have to return the favour somehow. I have few things to trade for you, but i might have some thing you'll want. That can all be worked out later, but in the mean time, thanks again for the offer. |

Here is the final Rolling Stones/NYC - HBO Telecast tree.
I used my Atlas to keep everybody as close together as possible - either in the same US State/Country, or in the same regional area.
I wanted to make sure nobody had to send more than 4 shows, even though many volunteered to do more. The one exception was the US East where the Seed Branch has 5 branches below him.
In some cases - some who volunteered to be a branch do not have any leafs under them. This is because there were not enough requests to be a leaf in that section of the tree.
I gave each section of the tree a symbol to make it easier to read:
Seed Branches tree to people with a (*)
People with a (*) tree to people with a (+)
People with a (+) tree to people with a (^)
It is up to the higher member of the tree how he will spread the show to those below him (weed, b&p, trade). If you are the lower member of the tree, please be prompt in providing your mailing information, blanks/stamps, or your trade list.
If anybody has any questions about the tree, send over an e-mail. Thanks to everyone for helping me spread this show.

This was a really great show, it was awesome to see so many old friends there!
I found out that Jaxx gained so much weight, she must have put on 50 LBS in the last year or so. Guess that's why she hasn't updated her photo. Most likely with her lace dress she doesn't want anyone seeing here, Guess the 'Unholy Trinity' is still very unholy.
Hope to see everyone on tour, I'm off to Stockholm!!!
