GotToRollMe If you like crime writing, you can't beat James Ellroy.
"The Big Nowhere," "L.A. Confidential," - that shit sings.

Lord (Hetero) Saw the thread and wondered where Ellroy would rate. I am still waiting for the 3rd volume in the last saga.
"White Jazz" was the best of the LA Quartet.
Lehane is good too.
GTRM, Chelsea Cain put out a book called "Heartsick" that was pretty good too.

You have to have a penis in order to receive an invitation to one of blue's parties. Or so I've heard.

And if you ve enjoyed Ellroy baby ,you can go for "king suckerman" by George Pelecanos, a fantastic book by a great writer!!
his Washington saga is IMHO at the same level of Ellroy's LA stuff, may be with more humor and less details

Michael Connelly is quite good. Lately, I've been reading the Lord Lynley mysteries.
