Ten Thousand Motels Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart & Neil Young Set As Rock Hall Inductors
LAUNCH Radio Networks

Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart , and Neil Young have signed on as inductors for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony on March 14 in New York City. According to the Associated Press, Springsteen will induct U2, Young will do the Pretenders, Clapton and B.B. King will stand up for their old friend Buddy Guy, and Stewart will do the honors for soul legend Percy Sledge. Also scheduled to present that night is pop star Justin Timberlake (news), who will induct the O'Jays. An edited version of the 19th annual Rock And Roll Of Fame Induction Ceremony will air on VH1 starting March 19th at 9 p.m. ET.

For Springsteen, it's a chance to return a favor, since he was inducted by Bono in 1999. With his tongue planted firmly in his cheek, Bono noted that Springsteen was that rarest of rock stars--one who hadn't shamed himself.

"No drug busts, no blood changes in Switzerland,” Bono joked. “Even more remarkable, no golfing! No bad hair period, even in the '80s! No wearing of dresses in videos! No embarrassing movie roles, no pet snakes, no monkeys, no exhibitions of his own paintings. No public brawling or setting himself on fire on the weekend."

Springsteen proved he was no slouch in the comedy department when he inducted Jackson Browne (news) last year. At the ceremony, he made an interesting comparison between the audiences he and Browne were drawing in the early '70s.

Springsteen said: "While the E Street Band and I were sweating our asses off for hours, just to put some fannies in the seats, that obviously due to what must have been some strong homoerotic undercurrent in our music, we were drawing rooms filled with men. And not that great looking men, either. Meanwhile, Jackson is drawing more women than an Indigo Girls show."
