Ten Thousand Motels (did this get posted? Can't find it if it did.)

STONES CENSORED FOR CHINA GIG

THE ROLLING STONES have been forced to drop four "sexually explicit" songs from an upcoming Shanghai performance (08APR06) after coming under the scrutiny of Chinese officials. The rock legends - who were censored just over a month ago during their Superbowl half-time performance of START ME UP - axed BROWN SUGAR, HONKY TONK WOMAN, LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER and BEAST OF BURDEN from their repertoire because the songs were deemed unacceptable by China's Ministry Of Culture. The Shanghai stop on their A BIGGER BANG tour would mark The Rolling Stones first ever performance in China. They were scheduled to tour Asia in 2003, but shows were cancelled amid fears of the SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) epidemic.

Joey " ..... axed BROWN SUGAR, HONKY TONK WOMAN, LET'S SPEND THE NIGHT TOGETHER and BEAST OF BURDEN from their repertoire because the songs were deemed unacceptable by China's Ministry Of Culture. "

This is most Disturbing .

Ten Thousand Motels Dead Flowers

Well, when you’re sitting there
In your silk upholstered chair
Talking to some rich folks that you know
Well I hope you won’t see me
In my ragged company
You know I could never be alone

Take me down little susie, take me down
I know you think you’re the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I won’t forget to put roses on your grave

Well, when you’re sitting back
In your rose pink cadillac
Making bets on kentucky derby day
I’ll be in my basement room
With a needle and a spoon
And another girl to take my pain away

Take me down little susie, take me down
I know you think you’re the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the mail
Send me dead flowers to my wedding
And I won’t forget to put roses on your grave

Take me down little susie, take me down
I know you think you’re the queen of the underground
And you can send me dead flowers every morning
Send me dead flowers by the us mail
Say it with dead flowers at my wedding
And I won’t forget to put roses on your grave
No I won’t forget to put roses on your grave

Ten Thousand Motels Why don't they just cut to the chase and call it the "Ministry of Mind Control"? The Thouroughfare of The Thought Police? or something like that. But "culture"?

Gazza Didnt they have to drop 4 songs (presumably these same 4) from "40 Licks" as well when released in China?

Its a strange selection of songs to be objectionable. "Beast of Burden" ? The others may be suggestive but theyre hardly the raunchiest in the repertoire (still, at least unlike ABC, theyre allowed to say "cum" and "cocks")

Seriously. They should tell these people to get fucked.

corgi37 America has its Ministry of mind control. It's called the Fox News Network.

Here in Oz, its talk back radio and the Herald-Sun newspaper. Stop bagging the Chinese. They will be our masters.

Phonetically, "Door chair" means "thank you".

"Ho" means "good". "Ho-ho" means "very good". "Ho-ho-ho" means your nuts.

Or, you are looking for Suzie Wong.

2nd March 2006 01:19 PM
Paranoid_Android They were censored here in the USA by the government (FCC)...why would you not think they would be there in RED CHINA...

What sucks is the possibility that the Chinese might get the BEST setlist of the entire tour...

Surprising though...SATISFACTION was not banned...it's a song about consumer overindulgence in a capitalist society...so the laugh is on them!!!

BWAH HA HA HA HA!!!!!

Nigga please! FOX is as legit as any of the others. Yes, they skew right but as long as you know that going in, it shouldn't harm you too much.

Thats not one of the 4 the chinese government banned, so why not!! Their also allowed to play "Cocksucker Blues".
2nd March 2006 01:24 PM
glencar And really, the Stones should skip China if this banned list is put upon them again. BTW This list was for the Licks tour before those shows were canceled. They haven't heard anything yet about this show.
