Some of the remixes on the promo are better than the actual song, which was not one of my favorites on the new album anyway. |

Many ABB songs are good but what have been much better if they had a real bass player in the studio, being involved in the songs from the begining of them. |

Better luck next time, maybe leave your number with Ronnie. Bill may not have been the most energetic guy on stage, but what he did for them in the studio was indespensible. |

you re 100% correct.Bill has never moved on stage but his playing was exactly what the Stones needed. A kind of third guitarist. |

Plus that tight vibe that Charlie and Bill had together is sadly missed in the studio. Jones is good live, but someone of Wyman's quality is needed in the studio. |

Agree too.
Dj is a great bassist, but not exactly the kind of bassist they do need. |

Funny to see Ronnie here
Many fans wanted him to take the bass when Bill left...the same fans , of course, wanted MT back on guitar.Mick said it was too "revival". |

What do you think of Trujillo in Metallica, and do you think they'll let him have much input on their next album?? And Woody is a pretty good bass player, after Wyman left it would have been interesting to see a Jagger / Richards / Taylor / Wood / Watts line-up with Wood on bass. Imagine how Voodoo Lounge might have turned out. Jagger said that idea was revival, but Voodoo was a pretty much revival sounding album anyway. |

for Trujillo: clearly no.I m crazy about his funkymetal bass lines with Infectious Grooves, metallica just used him like a session player...shamefull!

Metallica at this point can only benefit from someone like Trujillo having input on the music, I saw them a couple years ago with him on bass, and both his stage presence and talent was incredible. |

GIG REPORT - 22 Jul 2000
Date: July 22
City: Cicero, IL, USA
Venue: Chicago Motor Speedway
Attendance: Approx. 90.000
Bands:
- Lovejoi
- Nine Days
- Guster
- Vertical Horizon
- Veruca Salt
- The Tragically Hip
- Tonic
- Barenaked Ladies
- Third Eye Blind
- Stone Temple Pilots
- Kid Rock
- Metallica
Setlist:
- Intro
- Creeping Death
- For Whom the Bell Tolls
- Seek and Destroy
- Fade to Black
- Sad But True
- Masterarium
- Fuel
- No Leaf Clover
- Battery
- Nothing Else Matters
- One
- Turn The Page
- Enter Sandman
The banda played in that order (I think), each one with an increasingly long set and each meeting with fewer booing (with the exception of The Tragically Hip, who were practically booed off the stage) as the day progressed and Kid Rock and Metallica neared. Someone had the bright idea of handing out round mousepads to the crowd....they made nice frisbee's...as the bands that weren't Metallica, Kid Rock, or STP found out soon enough. I got a cut on my face from one and plenty of band members had their share of run ins with them as well.
The bands were pretty good, with the exception of Lovejoi. And sayin' you saw all of them was an added bonus. The Wazzup Guys showed up and went crowd surfing, which was pretty cool. And Barenaked Ladies did some cool impersonations of some rap and Britney Spears. STP was the band that finally got the crowd going though, and Kid Rock pumped us up even more, preparing us to be blown away by our boys in black, Metallica. Metallica really blew everyone away and the crowd I think even suprised the band with their enthusiasm.

Bob, I was there, although I got there too late to see lovejoi. There were a lot of flashing women right before and during the Metallica set.
It was also the second time I had seen the T Hip that summer, and they sounded way better than the prior time.
Veruca Salt played without Nina Gordon.
The Stone Temple Pilot set was crazy, as Scott Weiland was touch and go all summer, but he did fine in Cicero.
Bob, the best part of your set was the go-go dancers.
Also, your above post may be the only intelligent post you have made on this board so far. As you say in your other posts, "bawitdaba." |

I saw that tour at the Kentucky Speedway, but Hetfield wasn't there because of an injury, so vocal duties were split between Jason Newsted and Kid Rock. Newsted did a decent job, but Kid Rock butchered tons of Met classics. |
