Topic: critics: do you ignore them? Return to archive

texile i just posted some snarky comments about the chilli peppers and feel bad. i fell the same, but music is a matter of personal tastes - and i hate when people draw lines and label shit as "bad" or "good" according to what THEY like.

this is why critics have always bothered me -
they turn music into some academic exercise and miss the point to me.
do you guys ever feel less of a music fan when a critic trashes something you love?
do the critics affect your enjoyment of certain cds etc...?
after all, they trashed the stones 70s output and that really bothered me when i was a kid just discovering this stuff.

fireontheplatter no and no

remember opinions are like assholes..everybodys got one.

sure i always love to hear goodness about talent i like, but they do not sway my likeness one bit.

i used to take it to heart when i was younger...but not so much anymore.

pdog If people hate something I like, I still like it... All my friends hated The Clash in 1980, I gave away my Zep albums... By 1982, all those same Stoner Zep Heads were digging on The Clash...
