The B-52's were original, if nothing else.
Take away the visuals and it's disco.
15th February 2007 06:12 PM
pdog I saw Scissor Sisters perform on SNL, i didn't like them at all.
Glam/Disco is what i'd call it, not my thing at all.

15th February 2007 06:19 PM
jostorm Wow, thanks PA !!!!

OK, Gazza, I'll provide the hallucinogenic weed if you provide the tent for the Isle of White....But remember that if you do smoke it, you'll look like Brian on the old picture that Voodoo kindly removed... I'm starting to feel like the caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland "one will make you bigger, one smaller, dear child!"

Seriously, we should rent an enormous tent and put a delegation of RO/ers in it, dontya think??? And if we're lucky and global warming is on our side, we'll even have as hot a summer again as last year, that would be just great, beach and all, not to mention all the surfer hunks (LOOKING hasn't ever hurt anyone! Plus, I heard love is blind??? )
If it's REALLY hot, we could all walk around starkers, just wearing our special RO merkins.....bliss.....do you get the picture???? I'm getting it in Technicolor and it ain't pretty....

jostorm Totally overlooked this one!

Fuck, man, how do you KNOW all this stuff???
Is there maybe something you ought to be telling us all??? Like for example that you're the editor of 69 different porn magazines or something????????
Is it me, or is your halo starting to look a bit wobbly...

GotToRollMe Jo, you just made me spit iced tea out of my nose...twice!

"Take Your Mama"

When you grow up
Livin' like a good boy oughta
And your mama
Takes a shine to her best son
Something different
All the girls they seem to like you
Cause you're handsome
Like to talk and a whole lot of fun

But now your girl's gone a missin'
And your house has got an empty bed
The folks'll wonder 'bout the wedding
They won't listen to a word you said

[Chorus]
Gonna take your mama out all night
Yeah we'll show her what it's all about
We'll get her jacked up on some cheap champagne
We'll let the good times all roll out
And if the music ain't good, well it's just too bad
We're gonna sing along no matter what
Because the dancers don't mind at the New Orleans
If you tip 'em and they make a cut

Do it
Take your mama out all night
So she'll have no doubt
That we're doing oh the best we can
We're gonna do it
Take your mama out all night
You can stay up late
'cause baby you're a full grown man

It's a struggle
Livin' like a good boy oughta
In the summer
Watchin' all the girls pass by
When your mama
Heard the way that you'd been talking
I tried to tell you
That all she'd wanna do is cry

Now we end up takin' the long way home
Lookin' overdressed wearin' buckets of stale cologne
It's so hard to see streets on a country road
When your glasses in the garbage
And your Continental's just been towed

I just read it somewhere. It's true apparently. See the wikipedia entry for the band. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scissor_sisters

Apparently, the activity in question is formally known as 'tribadism' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribadism

Glad to be of help . Maybe that'll replace 'merkin' as the 'word of the week'.

For next week's expression of enlightenment, I recommend checking out this one, which I found after being directed to the entry for tribadism.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Axillary_intercourse

aka "bagpiping", apparently.

Amazing what you can get directed to when just looking up a biography of a cheesy pop band.

Rocks Off - Broadening The Sexual Horizons Of Married Women Since 1999

jostorm Gazza: that's SO and excuse and I SO don't believe you, come on, you can tell us the truth, we're your friends!

GTRM: sorry, that wasn't my intention....but I know what you mean, every time I use my favourite new word, it reminds me of my little nephew aged 3 when he discovered the word "bottom", he'd say it at every opportunity and fall about laughing in a heap...
ps: it's STILL not on YouTube???
16th February 2007 06:17 AM
jostorm PS to Gazza: that, you old bagpiper, reminds me of a joke:
Teacher writes the word "penis" on the blackboard and asks the children if they know what it means. Johnny raises his arm, and when the teacher nods at him, proudly declares:
"I do, Miss. My dad has two of them. One little one for weing, and a big one to clean the babysitter's teeth with!"

There you go. All these years we've been singing along to 'Shattered' and we didnt realise Mick was actually talking about 'bagpiping'. I just shudder to think what the hidden meaning behind the word 'shidoobee' is.

Would be a pretty funny joke on Doug and OldKR to discover "Shidoobee" is a lesbian floor move or some depraved activity that makes one go "ewwwwwwww".

At least we know what "Rocks Off" means.

BuckBuckBucky Scissor Sisters~

Don't like 'em.wanted to but that singer(well the male one anyway, they have two) has that one annoying move he does, sort of a variation on Axl Rose's shimmy back and forth but with the legs coming up in the back ITS THE ONLY MOVE HE DOES OVER AND OVER AND...
I think they make Frankie goes to Hollywood seem butch.
