Soul Survivor Can anyone provide a list of Stones songs in Open G tuning? I know the standards.....Start Me Up, Brown Sugar, Honky Tonk Women.....but what other ones are in Open G
02-18-04 09:03 PM
Poplar
off the top of my head:
(open tunings in general - mostly G)

Little Red Rooster (slide)
Street Fighting Man
Jiving Sister Fanny
Jump'n Jack Flash (live in open G - capo 4) like TD
Honky Tonk
You Got the Silver
Brown Sugar
Sway
Can't You Hear Me Knocking
Wild Horses (transponding guitar)
Moonlight Mile - i think has some open G
Tumbling Dice, Happy, etc... (a shit load of Exile... most of the first half of the album and some of the second half)
If You Can't Rock Me
Luxury
Before They Make Me Run
Start Me Up
Mixed Emotions
Rock & a Hard Place
Love Is Strong
Sparks Will Fly
You Got Me Rocking
I Go Wild
Too Tight
Don't Stop

i'm sure i missed some. but i'm at work. can't really spend much time tinking about this.

funny - keith seemed to have a big phase with open g... then he used it more sparingly.

my buddies and i just rented a practice space.
i'll be playing some open G tonight!!! woohoo!!!

I am pretty sure One Hit to the Body is in open G

Shake Your Hips in standard tuning, Lets Spend The Night Together off of 81 tour is in standard tuning, Rocks Off is in standard tuning, Slave is in standard tuning, You Cant Always Get What You Want is in open E with a capo on the 8th fret on the recorded version and open G tuning with a capo on the 5th fret when performed live.

Phew!

Soul Survivor anyone got an open g tbas for the 'obscure' songs? (Too tight, etc..)
02-20-04 07:31 AM
John Wood Rock and a Hard Place, and Sway are not played in open G.
02-20-04 07:39 AM
John Wood I am rethinking Rock and a Hard Place as Keith and Ronnie are both in standard tuning but Mick might play this one in open G.
