Me, too. The first Audioslave album was okay. I really liked it at first because I missed Tom Morello so much. The second album isn't too good. And Cornell is such a mess.

What is Zach up to now? Running for office?

He left RATM because he said he wanted to do projects with rappers and get into politics, don't know if anything has come from either though.

I actually appreciate Eddie's riffing way more than his leads.

Van Halen, the Roth years, had some really great riffs.

Beautiful Girls comes to mind... and Atomic Punk... I could go on but I've gotta take a leak.

Agreed Max (as you know). Eddie was a riff monster, unfortunately the piss-washed masses unfairly and stupidly lump Van Halen in with heavy metal (same fate AC/DC suffered for many years), when they were really a 70s based boogie band. And yes, they had tons of killer riffs on top of Eddie's clear wizardry.

My favorite riffs of his were in "Mean Street" and "DOA", quite underrated songs.

I have always hated VH-Saw them opening for Sabbath in '79
(with Roth singing) they sucked then they suck now
people are amazed when I tell them I can't stand 'em
They represent everything thats Boring and wrong with 'Rock' music to me

Saint Sway does anyone remember the end of the Hot For Teacher video where it showed what each band member would be doing in the future... they had Roth as a Talk Show Host and Eddie as an insane mental patient.

well here we are in 2006 and the predictions in that video are spot on!!

Highwire Rob Does anyone seriously believe they're ever going to have enough quality material for Volume 2:

Yes, I have Vol. 1 and it's a great CD encompassing Roth and Hagar. (I could have done without that Gary Cherone bloke though!)

But come on, own this $12.97 and you have everything you need to for Van Halen. It was a good 70's/80's/90's run -- stick a fork in them, they're done.

All of us U.S. Stone's fans who went through highschool in the mid-to-late eighties having to hear nothing but how Eddie is the GREATEST GUITARIST ever! At my Central Catholic highschool where was the Keith respect!? God, I'm still going through serious withdrawal...

Enough Already! Gag me with a Kramer Baretta guitar dude!

Hey, Val, are you available?

I couldn't agree more. To me, what made Van Halen entertaining was the fact that David Lee Roth was . . . an entertainer. The only rock and roller who was funnier than DLR was Johnny Thunders.

doo doo doo Dude I had a feeling...

From Billboard.com:

'Rock Star: Van Halen' Rumors Unfounded

Persistent rumors that Van Halen will audition new singers on the upcoming season of CBS reality series "Rock Star" are untrue, according to the network.

"All it is is a rumor, we deny it," a CBS Entertainment spokesperson tells Billboard.com. "We don't even have [an act] firmly established yet, though, hopefully we will shortly."

A spokesperson for Van Halen referred Billboard.com to a previously published report in which the band's involvement with the show was vehemently denied.

Speculation of the "Rock Star"/Van Halen pairing has been running wild since the fall when, in an interview, the series' producer Mark Burnett ("Survivor") used the group as an example, along with Queen, as an act appropriate for the show's mission of filling vacancies.

The story got new legs during this morning's (Feb. 14) broadcast of the syndicated David Lee Roth radio show as the former Van Halen frontman declared, "They really are gonna do it, I think. It's the 'Rock Star' open call schedule. They just handed me the schedule... they won't say who it's for, but I think it's for Van Halen."

"Rock Star," which is co-hosted by former Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, has indeed announced its audition schedule. Tryouts will be conducted throughout North America for about a month, starting March 1 in Austin. An announcement about the featured artist is forthcoming, according to the CBS spokesperson. The network plans to air the program's second season this summer.

The first season bowed last year as "Rock Star: INXS." The Australian band ultimately crowned J.D. Fortune as its new lead singer, recorded an album and is on the road in North America, playing Reading, Pa., tomorrow night.

Since Roth exited the band in 1985, hard rock crew Van Halen has been helmed by Sammy Hagar, who left the band in 1996, and former Extreme singer Gary Cherone. Attempts to regroup with Roth failed, and the band has been quiet since guitarist Eddie Van Halen began battling cancer around the turn of the millennium.

corgi37 Hot for teacher vid:

Michael Anthony became a sumo wrestler.

I think Waldo ended up with the babes.

I'll tell you a great song. From ou812. "Black and blue". I just love that song. Bloody hot song!

That cd reminds me so much of the summer of 88. My dear departed mate "Dash" and i would crank that sucker up all the time. I also went to Surfers Paradise for the 2nd time in my life that year. About a dozen of us went up. That cd was everywhere. I bought my 1st bandannas. I did one of those "recording" sessions in the mall in Cavill Ave. You know, sing over a pre-recorded track. I did "Sweet child o mine". I saw Geoff Hoad from Kings of the Sun (my all time fave band) walking down Orchard Ave in full leather outfit, holding some "stress balls". It was about 35 degrees celcius! I saw a minor grade Euro porn star at a outside cafe. I got my hair tipped. I got the pox. I saw the lead singer of "Mi-Sex" perform on New YEars Eve. His shitty band ran out of songs to do, so did Roadhouse Blues twice! Poor sucker died of cancer. One of my mates put toothpaste on my balls and it stung/burnt like all hell. A mate and i shared the affections of a rather large Yank chick we picked up in the bar at Tara Village. Later, i walked into same bar with her g-string on my head. We went on a "mystery bus" dicso tour, and the best club was a gay bar. I had the longest mullet in my life. Looked awesome.

So, you see, Sammy is MY VH. So many fantastic memories. He was cool. And, so much older than you realise.
February 15th, 2006 09:04 AM
StickyFishFingers I'm totally lost with VH - i thought all was forgiven between Sammy & Eddie Van Wanker & that he had rejoined the band. Ed's lost the plot. VH's bass player always reminded me of that hairy guy in the revenge of the nerds movies - i think his name was Ogre or something like that - big bloke who was one of the 'Jocks'.
I hear ya Corgi also about Steve Vai - who the fuck really needs 7 strings on their guitar ???? what a pretentious prick he is. And don't get me started on Malmsteen.

Actually Roth was a game show host in that vid, but close enough!! His gig as radio talk show host seems doomed though. Alex did seem quite pleased with his gig in, errr, women's health issues.

Hagar is actually the same age as Ronnie Wood. I like Halen in all forms. Even though there wad tension and a pretty straight ahead set list, I enjoyed their 2004 tour, with Hagar.

Poison Dart I am rolling around on the floor as I read this. THIS IS THE SINGLE LAMEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD OF.

If Van Halen wanted to be big again there is one simple way of doing it. Do a record and tour with Roth and Hagar. Call it the Best of Both Worlds tour and procede to start counting the cash.

Ten Thousand Motels ROTH CALLS FOR VAN HALEN REUNION

LATEST: Former VAN HALEN star DAVID LEE ROTH is urging his bandmates to shun plans for a reality TV comeback in favour of a reunion tour.

The singer, who fronted the band from 1978 until his departure in 1985, is keen for the JUMP rockers to reform, but refuses to star in new US TV show ROCK STAR: THE SERIES.

And he insists a brief reconciliation would allow the rockers to move on with their individual careers.

He tells the New York Daily News, "People want the reunion. No one will pay respect to what any of us do (musically) until we get the reunion out of the way.

"Once Eddie (Van Halen - guitar) does that, everything else he does can be seen with a fresh eye.

"Van Halen would go out for three months. That's all Eddie could handle."

Dead or Alive!! My favorite off of VH2. And if they do go out, they need to do it behind a really good new album. I don't like reunion tours where a band who hasn't done anything studio wise in a decade or so goes back out on tour without anything new. You can tell then its only for the cash. Thats one thing I love about the Stones, whether or not you like their newest album, at least they still make an effort to write and perform new material.

last news are sad, but after dave's departure, hagar arrival and all the rest, I didn't expect anything better than this bar-coded sadness.
