Break The Spell |
"Get Off Of My Cloud" has always been a powerful track percussion wise, plus the toy drum on "Street Fighting Man" has always been bad ass!! It's always fun to hear a 64 year old man rock hard on song like "Rough Justice" and "Oh No, Not You Again". He does some interesting things on "Satanic Majesties" as well. |

Good one, the ending of the live version of Starfucker kind of foreshadows the harder edged songs to come on "some Girls". |

yep...you can really pick out almost anything, concentrate on just the drumming and it really is superb in a subtle way
Just this minute I'm listening to 'Soul Survivor' followed by 'Aint too proud To Beg' and its all wonderful |

oh, and to add to what I said about Charlie's drumming on "Some Girls", check out the wonderful and criminally overlooked "Everything is Turning to Gold" from the same sessions, which can be found on "Sucking in the 70's"
and from the same compilation I'll throw in "Dance Pt 2" for free. The whole band absolutely smokes on this and never grooved better

This may seem like blasphemy, but my favorite Charlie sound is the entire '89-90 tour. Listen to IORR from the television broadcast from, I believe, Frankfurt. Simply unbelievable -- precisely the way God meant a rock-and-roll drummer to swing. |

Oh yeah: the title song of "Some Girls," at the very end as the track is fading out. Charlie does one of those "Charlie things" that is deceptively impossible for any other drummer to reproduce. |
