Some Guy Sen. Specter wants 'Spygate' answers from NFL
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell gives his State of NFL address today. Should be a good one. Not only is a potential labor dispute up for discussion, "Spygate" will be a topic, too.

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) wants Goodell "to explain why the league destroyed evidence related to spying by the New England Patriots," according to The New York Times.

"That requires an explanation," Specter said. "The N.F.L. has a very preferred status in our country with their antitrust exemption. The American people are entitled to be sure about the integrity of the game. It's analogous to the C.I.A. destruction of tapes. Or any time you have records destroyed."

There seems to be a disagreement between Specter and the league office, too. Specter says he sent the league two letters about "Spygate." The league says it didn't receive the letters until last week.

The NFL's Joe Browne said the league has been in contact with Specter's office "several times in recent weeks" and "the issue of these letters was not discussed," the Times reported.

Specter said that was "untrue."

"It's the same old story," Mr. Specter said. "What you did is never as important as the cover-up. This sequence raises more concerns and doubts."

Sports Scope will provide updates from Goodell's state of the league address as it happens.

Nellcote Goodell & NFL to take heat for this.
Pats paid 3/4 mil of a fine administered
by NFL, it's over in Foxboro.

Towards Sunday, we are playing a very tough opponent.
Giants have won 10 straight road games, this is nothing
to be taken lightly.
They are very good in all three phases of the game.
They are well coached, good on offense, big on defense.
Both coaches know each other, having coached together with the Giants.
Brady is probable with a bad right shoulder, so we need to be careful.
This is the game we've worked all year for.
This is the biggest game of the year, one for the marbles.
Let's hope it lives up to the hype

Super Saturday indeed.

Sean Salisbury and Steve Young were just arguing over the story that the Pats videotaped the Rams final walkthrough before SB XXXVI.

Burress has been hurt all year.
He's practiced about two times.

Yeah, he had a huge game against the Packers, but he had 38 yards in the Tampa Bay game and 5 in the Cowboy game.

Amani Toomer's got the same amount of postseason yardage, and 3 TD's to Plax's 0.

I just got back myself.

Good luck, I wish you well on your endeavors tonight.

Dude was PISSED!!! What the hell though, they could have moved around anytime, but to choose to do it when the cameras are on...in Chris' line of sight. I think he handled himself with restraint. Bravo Chris Berman!!!

sweetcharmedlife I'm surprised the New Yorkers aren't up in arms over the USA Today's Super Bowl coverage. They did a comparison of cities between Boston/New York. For best rock bands from each city, they listed Aerosmith for Boston and for New York they listed Bon Jovi.......Hmmm,does Gazza work for the USA Today. Just wondering.
