Saint Sway Has there ever been a song more fun than "Happy"?

just sounds like they're having a rockin party at Keith's place on that song.

still one of my all-time absolute favorite rockers. Always puts me in a great mood

have a HAPPY weekend everyone!

1 Not from the 20th century.

Happy is a kind of flash, nothing less.

Lil Brian I could listen to him sing Happy forever. If they end up in Vegas, I'll be in the front row, mouthing the words to him if he forgets. Hearing new versions of this song is one of the reasons I started collecting bootlegs.

Brainbell Jangler Keith at his uptempo best. "Anita love to keep me happy!"

pdog Jagger oversang on the early live versions.... Maybe this is why Keith keeps him off stage now...

Spru Great, legendary song. I love it, and I still think they pull it off well live. You can tell Keith is really on top of the world when he's playing and singing this song. He looks truly happy, no pun intended. Even though some rip on Keith for not playing guitar enoough during his spot, he still plays the opening riff and chorus great in this song and gets really into it. Great song, great man, great band. Stones in 2007 and on!

"Ya like it out the back? let's go!"

When I saw that as a kid, I knew Keith was the coolest guy ever. Whenever i play that tune on guitar, i wrap it up like he does in this clip - with the 1st to 6th scrape.

No there has not! Wish I could write a song like that about how my girl makes me feel. Last week I was in a dive bar here in PA--a lot of bikers not particularly happy about having to store their Harleys away this frigid season.

Anyway, I took a turn at the jukebox, and paid the extra to download the X-Pensive Winos version of Happy with the extended refrain... You make me Happy

It was fun to see the biker chicks bobbing their heads away at the bar!

the good The guitar work in happy is outstanding. I never realized how great it was until I had it cranked up through headphones a couple of years ago. The shit going on in the left channel is amazing. GREAT lead playing. Its a shame it kind of gets lost in the murky water of the exile mix. The best part comes right after the the "flesh on the bone" line. They are just choking the hell out of the thing. Anybody know if that's Taylor or Keith? It sounds too dirty to be Taylor.

Lil Brian HAPPY
(M. Jagger/K. Richards)

Well I never kept a dollar past sunset,
It always burned a hole in my pants.
Never made a school mama happy,
Never blew a second chance, oh no

I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love to keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.

Always took candy from strangers,
Didn't wanna get me no trade.
Never want to be like papa,
Working for the boss ev'ry night and day.

I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love, baby won't ya keep me happy.
Baby, won't ya keep me happy.
Baby, please keep me

I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love to keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.

Never got a flash out of cocktails,
When I got some flesh off the bone.
Never got a lift out of Lear jets,
When I can fly way back home.

I need a love to keep me happy,
I need a love to keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.
Baby, baby keep me happy.

Thanks to Keno!

I must disagree with you on this. I always saw Happy more as a Duet with Mick and Keef as opposed to a solo by Keef. However, when the 89 tour rehearsals rolled around and the boys revisited every song to sound like the record they made a decision that it truly was a solo song by Keith. Mick (and maybe Chuck) decided in keeping with the album that Keith sing the song solo.

I still think Happy followed by Tumbling Dice (or vice versa) are like Salt and Pepper. The one song always follows the other.

Just my thoughts.

Chris74 My favourite version is that one from "Ladies and Gentlemen The Rolling Stones" 1972, so tight and fast, among the top ten Stones live for me.
