Barney Fife We were in the front row right in front of Dave and Steve thanks to Larry Mack and his buddies. So, the band was pretty close to us right up on top of the back of that good ol’ Voodoo Lounge bar. Dave and Louie looked like they had just woken up from a nap and Mr. Hidalgo told us that he has the flu and we better stay away from him! So it seemed like it took the band a few songs to warm up. Cesar and Conrad were in good spirits, and I can never tell with Steve but he played very competently. "I Walk Alone" was one of the highlights of the band last night - maybe for me because I like that song so much.

So, Cesar was the main force in driving the show last night. He knew he had to carry a bit of the load from David, but David did manage to deliver some good work despite feeling like crap. But I think all the band was trying hard. Louie inspired me that I need to buy a Les Paul Goldtop. Cesar was groovin’ with the audience making good connections via eye contact, singing and guitar slinging. He was opening up the Mardi Gras weekend for us by suggesting “enchiladas for a Fat Tuesday.”

The casino presented a bit of a jovial atmosphere for the gig. The bartender was tossing bottles and other instruments of his trade around like a skilled juggler. There were people going nuts and really getting into the music and others just very attentively listening. A few people danced in the front area between chairs and the bar. There was a short encore - just a couple songs then we had to bid them farewell.

Don't Worry Baby
Done Gone Blue
I Walk Alone
Is This All There Is?
Come On, Lets Go
Maricela
Georgia Slop
Hearts of Stone
Luz De Mi Vida
Bottle It Up and Go
Not Fade Away -> Bertha
Let's Say Goodnight
Ay Te Dejo en San Antonio
Evangeline
La Bamba

encore:
Cinnamon Girl
One After 909

Nice - I know that casino well. that's my mom's hangout. You can find Chuck Berry there quite often as well. The other month Chuck got his motorhome stuck in the turn around circle out front (couldn't cut the turn and couldn't back up)...tied up traffic for a long time.

GhostofBrianJones Hey I live in St Louis Missouri. And I know where Harrah's is.
Never been to the Voodoo Lounge yet. Chuck Berry, my friend
Calvin Marsala's brother Jimmy Marsala plays bass guitar for
Chuck and has for several decades. Cal told me Chuck still tours
all the time. Unless Jimmy got sick again, he should still be playing for Chuck. I am going to show Cal this next time he comes
over here. Thanks guys.

Hey Ghost - Chuck plays Blueberry Hill in University City once a month usually. Where are you at in St. Louis? I grew up in Florissant and Spanish Lake. My parents moved to Chesterfield in 85 and there they still be.

Not to get to far off los Lobos though. I've always wanted to see them. The Voodoo Lounge would have been perfect. My parents saw the Squirrel Nut Zippers open the bar up there.
