Howard noted that he liked the Stones’ performance – including their new tune, “Rough Justice” – although he questioned Mick Jagger’s choice of wardrobe. Howard explained that he didn’t like seeing Mick’s midriff as much as he did or when he whipped off his jacket and showed off his arms. Robin then added that she thought Mick should’ve been embarrassed at the way he was shaking his hips like a man half his age.
Despite the complaints, Robin appreciated that the entire halftime show was devoted to just one band. Gary then mentioned that he heard Mick was censored during “Start Me Up,” but Artie noted that Mick actually edited the word “c*m” himself.
As far as the performers of the national anthem went, Howard commented that Dr. John didn’t look healthy to him, that he still wondered what the thing is on Aaron Neville’s face and that he thought Aretha Franklin was Jerome Bettis at first. Howard added that he could tell Aretha and Aaron didn’t rehearse much for their duet, so he graded it a C-, while adding that he thinks Aretha still has a great voice. "
