Cardinal Ximinez What the hell is that supposed to be? They can't possibly put all that stuff onto a box set! There would be 25 discs at least! No one would be able to afford the fucking thing!

Is this supposed to be a list of songs that are under consideration for the set?
01-23-02 01:24 AM
Cardinal Fang Cardinal X !

I think you are correct. It looks like a (partial) list of stuff to go through. You notice the list is only 1971-1979 ?

Later, Cardinal Fang

Sorry, too difficult to translate, but I'm sure you will easily understand...

Mathijs a load of bollocks if you ask me -do you really aspect the Stones to "consider" the Blind Date Toronto 1979 concert to be fit for release? It's probably the worst two concerts the Stones have ever given, everybody was dead drunk, including Charlie and Bill.

sandrew Are you kidding? What, is the box set going to cost $1,000? Maybe this is a list of what they plan to whittle down.
01-23-02 10:18 AM
nankerphelge It has to be material that they will pull from. Why on earth would they ever release so much of the same live material -- no one but a few of us would be even remotely interested in having 28 versions of Tumblin Dice from '72-'73.

In my mind, the interesting thing is the unreleased studio stuff. Thanks to the good Cardinal, I have all I need from the unreleased live materials listed. (Except for that Earls Court stuff with the Black & Blue stuff)

Some of that studio material is great, except that the boots I have heard sound so damn rough. It would be great to get some better versions. On the down side, they will probably cut and polish them to the point of boredom.

Ya gotta hope that they are doin the same things with all of their material and not just the 70s stuff.
01-23-02 10:28 AM
sandrew Nanker is right. The Voodoo Brew/Stew stuff is brilliant, better than the album itself. I really hope some of that comes out.
01-23-02 10:39 AM
nankerphelge Yeah not only was it good, but the sound is top notch on what I've heard. They definitely held back a few gems from those sessions. There was one tune in particular that caught my attention -- something about "in the middle of the ocean" -- Keith's guitar work was just hypnotic. And there were others that were great too - Honest Man, Zipmouth. Would be great to get a 4 CD set broken down as unreleased Jones era material, unreleased Taylor era material, unreleased Wood era material, and unreleased live material (maybe the obscure stuff -- how many HTW/BS/JJF/SFTD compilations do they need?)
01-23-02 11:34 AM
sandrew Damn, I don't think I have that. My interest is piqued. I have a double CD (one of them is great collection called "Jammin' with Keith). But that's it. Anyone know where I can get the full Brew/Stew mother lode?
01-23-02 05:00 PM
Riffhard Well the collect.com article does state that it is a (working list from Sony). The question is,how is Allen Klien's relationship with Sony? Will we see any older ABKO stuff?I'm sure Klien is sitting on a tresure trove of outtakes.
I would also love to hear a decent/clean version of No Spare Parts among many others.Seems like an awful lot of live material. With loads of repetition.Maybe that's what Mick was going through on the Being Mick special.

Cardinal Ximinez I think one thing is very clear here....this is gonna be a Rolling Stones Records box. I don't think there's gonna be any ABKCO stuff on it.

I think the other very clear thing is that they have a whole pile of cutting to do. If they are gonna release a 6 or 8 disc set, I hope they do it a few CDs at a time so it's affordable.

On June 16, 2001 the hit counter of the WET page was inserted here, it had 174,489 hits. Now the hit counter is for both the page and the board.
The hit counter of the ITW board had 1,127,645 hits when it was closed and the Coolboard didn't have hit counter but was on line only two months and a half.
