Ending the threat of the USSR, and freeing 300 million people.... Interest rates down from 22% to 8%, doubled revenue due to tax cuts, and the Democrat (house, and part of the time senate) congress managed to spend $1.87 to every dollar that was brought in.
Lest it be forgotten, Liberals controlled Congress for forty years straight (1954-1994). And guess what? They didn't save a single penny of the Social Security Trust Fund. These so-called champions of the elderly squandered away everything our parents and grand-parents paid into the system. Yet even this was not enough to satisfy their appetite to spend other people's money. Democrats ran budget deficits year after year and sent the public debt soaring. And in those forty years, government became more intrusive, levied ever higher taxes, and grew substantially in role and size.
