Voodoo Scrounge Ok Guys

Im VERY bored at work and was thinking.

If you could take the Rolling Stones back catalogue and create a band using famous dead or living musicians to record the back catalogue, Who would you choose?

Ok, you have to assume that the Rolling Stones as we know them have never existed and you only have their songs to work with. So you cant choose Mick or Keith ect.

Remember guys, this is just a hypothetical question. You should use your knowledge of the stones songs when making your choices. Eg, whose voice would sound great on "Some Girls" and who would lay down a good beat on "Mixed Emotions"

Mine would be

Vocals - Freddie Mercury (Queen)
Bass - Mike Mills (REM)
Drums - Stuart Copeland (The police)
Guitar 1 - Prince
Guitar 2 - Joe Perry (Aerosmith)
Keyboards - Jools Holland (Squeeze)

I thought about having Rod, but decided that Freddie had more os a stage presence.

nanatod Leslie West -gtr, vocals
Felix Pappalardi - bass
Corky Laing - drums

Wouldn't have the "full sound" that the Stones actually have, but wouldn't be as much of a mess as some of the other suggestions in this thread.

Alternate suggestion:

Richie Blackmore - gtr
Ian Gillan - vocal
Ian Paice - drums
Jon Lord - keys
Roger Glover - bass

cool!!

I would add Steve Knight on keys, even that he was added as a filler to avoid the people thinking that Felix wanted an American Cream, let me tell ya... I have been listening the Mountain Bootleg Series and those long versions of Nantucket Sleighride adding some keyboards are great! Specially during the 1971 tour
