Undersized by todays standards(see Nick Buoniconti), but fierce and intelligent competitors. Larry Little's brother played for Pitt for a few years. He was black. |

As far as I know, neither Joe Strummer or John Lydon ever played for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Can't you guys start a thread about football so I can stay the hell out of it?
Hey, Lynn Swann is running for Governor of Pennsylvania on the Republican ticket.
His GOP adversary recently shot himself in the foot when his campaign manager said "The rich white guy in THIS race is Lynn Swann." Funny! I mean, it's TRUE, but they shouldn't say stuff like that in public. |

Music is just entertainment, but if any band got close to starting a revolution and actually changed a society somewhat, it's The Beatles and the Sex Pistols. And Lydon WAS the Sex Pistols.

I fucking hate John Lyddon. He has no credibility at all. His time in the limelight is over and he should shut his mouth.
Come on, like we are going to listen to a man who was on "Im a clebrity, get me out of here" with PETRE ANDRE.
I dont even like Strummer, but I wouldntlisten to this prick. Get a job. |

Agreed. Music has cultural and social connotations too.
I have to say, I think the CLash were the more intelligent punk rock group. Strummer had real poiltical and historical knowledge, and used it to such good effect in some of his songs, e.g. Spanish Bombs. They were anit-establishment in a realistic and relaxed fashion, I love them. They were also more talented musicians than The Sex Pistols IMHO. |

tho i was talking of the spiritual connotations
one love and that kind of thing
which works both above and below the socio/cultural situation
and i'd certainly be wary of "intelligent" punk rock bands but i think i know what you mean

Yes, I know. I was saying that on top of the spiritual connotations, you also have the social and cultural aspects. Music connects everyone in one way or another. It is The ultimate method of human expression. So, I'll put my neck on the line and say that music is king/queen of all art forms. |

So GlenCar,
Day Two. You've had a night to sleep on it and think it over...
have you come up with ANY reasons why you would state that Lydon has talent?
ANY????
are you capable of intelligently discussing music beyond just stating what you like and dont like??? Are you at all capable of forming an opinion and THEN backing it up with something credible???
Is there ANY substance to your thoughts or is it all:
"I like eggs. Eggs are good." |
