A constellation of London stars heralded the Chinese New Year on Saturday at a lavish bash hosted by banker Andy Wong and his wife Patti - the flamboyant annual affair is considered one of "the" events to be seen at in the English capital.



Rock 'n' roll royalty led the way at this year's celebrations, with Elizabeth Jagger rubbing elbows with former beau Sean Lennon while their respective mothers, Jerry Hall and Yoko Ono, looked on. Elizabeth went with a bohemian chic dress, vintage belt and matching silver shoes, while Sean looked turn of the 19th-century cool in a black top hat.

Meanwhile Dame Shirley Bassey, a regular at the Chinese New Year celebration, made a stunning appearance in a black feathered affair with a floral bow swathing her head and an eye-catching string of pearls.

Amid mimes and costumed guests, the exotic, exclusive evening featured a sumptuous buffet of sushi and a host of sights and sounds celebrating Asian cultures.

Chinese New Year, which officially begins on February 9, leaves behind the Year of the Monkey and begins the reign of the Rooster, one of 12 animals used by the Chinese calendar.
