Ten Thousand Motels PBS to Air Ramones Documentary

The Ramones will soon take their place alongside Big Bird, Elmo and Masterpiece Theatre.

End of the Century, the documentary about the legendary punk outfit, will receive its broadcast debut from PBS in April. The film, which had a limited run in art theatres around the country last year, will air as part of the network's Music Month in April. The film's tentatively scheduled for an April 26 broadcast

The latest Ramones documentary, End of the Century: The Story of the Ramones is headed to DVD.

The documentary, which made the rounds in art-house theatres last year, will hit stores March 15. Fans who want to check out the film before purchasing it may want to wait until an April screening on PBS (read full story). It's the second Ramones video release in under a year, as Image Entertainment's Ramones Raw (read Aversion's review) gathered drummer Marky Ramones' home video footage and other extras this summer.

The 150-minute release includes the battery of extras compulsory for a DVD release. Extras include unused interview footage from Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, Ritchie and Tommy Ramone, as well as pieces with Joe Strummer and Blondie's Debby Harry saved from the cutting room floor.

Dan I would also like to mention even if you don't like the Ramones, this is still a great documentary. Lots of revealing info on band dynamics and industry dynamics that makes a great story on its own aside from the music its about.
