Jagger will behave at Super Bowl

MICK Jagger has relieved nervous television executives and Super Bowl presenters of any fera of another "wardrobe malfunction" when the Rolling Stones perform in Monday's (AEDT) half-time show.
The rock and roll legends will perform live during the mid-game break when the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks meet for the National Football League title in the 40th annual American football championship spectacle.
League and telecast officials have been nervous since Janet Jackson's right breast was exposed in an infamous 2004 Super Bowl half-time show mishap the singer termed a "wardrobe malfunction".
"Network television, they are always worried about how many times you are going to say, 'F--k' on the air,'' Jagger said today (AEDT).
"We had a bit of a crisis this morning when they heard Aretha Franklin was going to strip during the national anthem,'' he joked.
"All this will be worked out on the night. They should calm down and stop worrying and take life as it comes."
That became easier last year after the NFL tightened control over the show, handing production duties to Don Mischer, who returns this year.
British rocker Paul McCartney managed to avoid an unexpected revelation in the 2005 show.
While the league and US telecaster ABC has song veto power, the Stones have kept the three-song playlist for their 12-minute performance a secret, twice evading questioners wondering if Sympathy for the Devil might be performed.
Jagger said the NFL had fumbled the ball by staging a Super Bowl in "Motown" without including talented musicians from the recording legend until Franklin and Stevie Wonder were included in pre-game activities.
"The thing about the NFL is they run a good show. Occasionally they make a mistake but they have been quick to rectify it," Jagger said.
Wonder was asked if he had ever suffered a wardrobe malfunction. The blind singer replied: "Not that I've seen."
The Stones' performance at Super Bowl XL comes one week shy of 40 years since the group debuted on American television.
"America has changed so much since we were first here. It's almost unrecognizable," Jagger said.
"It's hard to imagine what the US was like 40 years ago. The Super Bowl wasn't such a big worldwide event.
"We've both changed. Hopefully both of us still have our core values intact."
Asked how he remains inspired after such a long career, Jagger replied, "Some nights you're not motivated. You have a cold. You feel like crap. But then you get out there, the audience gets you going and you feel motivated."
The Rolling Stones played 42 dates last year before a total of 1.2 million people and announced today a European tour of more than 30 dates opening in Barcelona on May 27.
"The other big event for us coming up is going to be playing a concert on the beach in Rio de Janiero," Jagger revealed.
"They say it's going to be 1.5 million people. We're looking forward to that."

Stevie was on TV in the UK a few years ago (I think it was the Michael Parkinson show) and was asked how much of a disadvantage it was to be blind when he was growing up
His reply was "well..it could have been worse. I could have grown up black..." |

The eyes of football fans around the world will be on Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego when Super Bowl XXXVII kicks off on Sunday, January 26, as an estimated worldwide audience of 800 million will watch the NFL crown a new champion.
International broadcasters will televise the game to 220 countries and territories in 28 different languages.
Fifteen broadcasters from 11 countries will be covering the game on-site: Canada (Global TV), Denmark (TV2), France (Canal +), Germany (Premiere World, SAT 1), Italy (Tele +), Japan (NHK, NTV), Venezuela (Meridiano), Mexico (Televisa, Estadio W Radio), Netherlands (SBS), Russia (NTV) and the United Kingdom (Channel 5, Sky Sports).
In the UK, Channel 5 will televise the Super Bowl on terrestrial television for the first time since 1997. As part of Super Bowl Week on Channel 5, the broadcaster will also air a 30-minute prime-time program each day leading up to the game focusing on its significance as an American social phenomenon and the premiere global sports event.
"On Super Bowl Sunday our sport is being showcased to millions of fans around the world," says NFL Commissioner PAUL TAGLIABUE. "The growing appeal of football beyond the borders of the United States is evidenced by the tremendous interest in the Super Bowl from every corner of the globe."
Elsewhere in Europe, fans in Italy will also be enjoying their first terrestrial Super Bowl broadcast since 1997, as Italian broadcaster RETI will bring fans all the action on Italia 1.
In Japan, terrestrial broadcaster NTV will bring nearly 50 staffers to the Super Bowl, helping the network support the four independent programs they will produce, including the popular magazine-style show, Club T.
Latin American fans will continue to enjoy NFL coverage via ESPN International's weekly NFL studio show, NFL Semanal. The program will send a full production team to San Diego, including a sideline reporter to capture all the festivities, both from inside the stadium to the many surrounding attractions.
Fans in Brazil will follow the Super Bowl on Globo TV, the nation's No. 1 terrestrial broadcaster. Regular programming will be halted for live Super Bowl updates and the halftime show will also be shown. A Super Bowl recap features prominently in the popular weekly sports show, Esporte Espetacular.
American military personnel stationed around the world will receive significant Super coverage from the American Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS). AFRTS has been on-site at the Super Bowl since the 1990 NFL season.
