Topic: One of the Stones most overlooked songs.. Return to archive

Spru ..of the Post-'89 era is I Go Wild. A pretty intense rocker with rough, twangy guitars, Mick's vocals are growling and inspired, lyrics are great, awesome build-up and chorus, Charlie is great as usual. This song definitely has that trademark Stones sound for me. I play this song a lot, especially for a Stones tune from the past 20 years. I think it's relatively overlooked and I'd love to see it reappear in the set one day. Any thoughts?

PS - I enjoyed the video for it as well.

Gazza I like it too. There should be more songs with 'blocked chord' riffs like that (Start Me Up, Dangerous Beauty are two other examples)

glencar I disagree. It's arena-fodder, somewhat dumbed down in the lyrical department. I wish it were overlooked!

glencar That said, I too enjoy the video. One of their best from that CD.

Some Guy You whipped me I'm hurting
Abused me for certain
And slavery should not exist
Is this what I get a poison kiss

Without you I'm dead meat
I'm a raggedy dog dying in the street
Of a God-forsaken shanty town
Where gangs of children are hunted down

I go wild when you're in my face
I go wild when I taste your taste
I go wild and I go insane
I get sick--somebody stop this pain

You left me I'm braindead
I'm feeling nothing strapped to my bed
On life support tubes in my nose
Tubes in my arms shot full of holes

I go wild act like a goat
And I get sick, lumps in my throat
I go wild
I go wild
I go crazy, I go insane
I get sick somebody stop this pain

And the doctors says you'll be okay
And if you'd only stay away
From femme fatales and dirty bitches
And daylight drabs and nightime witches
And working girls and blue stockings
And dance hall babes and body poppers
And waitresses with broken noses
Checkout girls striking poses
And politicians' garish wives
With alcoholic cunts like knives

I go wild
I go wild
I go wild
I go wild
I go wild when you're in my face
And I'm entranced in a state of grace
I go wild when you treat me bad
I go wild, raving mad

I go wild for you
I go wild for you

I don't think is has been overlooked...it IS a fun song...though I hate it's distant cousin (She Saw Me Comin")...that Group anthem chant is usually I clinch my teeth to...

If it is indeed overlooked...it's the Stones fault...its a great live song...just as "Saint Of Me" and "Out Of Control" were, and still should be!!!
