You being a Bass player I'd like to know the pro's and con's...
IMO, I respect how Darryl is not trying to up-stage Bill.
Also, I think he doesn't have his bass turned up loud enough...
No?
I like that thump Bill gives on the 81-82 tours.
Darryl doesn't have that thump.
But know he could w/ those strong black fingers...!
It is because respect, or Keith and Ronnie don't wan't him to?
You know those "dd ball" Bass thumps Bill gave?
Darryl doesn't do those...
Thanks FPM... |

I have much respect and affection for bill (by the way have you seen "bill wyman's blues odissey"? great documentary). but i think darryl is what it takes now to give the tunes a new line, probably a bit far from the original but what it takes anyway.
as a singer i think it's much easier to sing over a bassline like that throu i can't explain it technically |

Bill Wymans Blues Odyssey is also a book. It is a very detailed history of the blues, the influence the blues have had on other bands(including the Stones) and real neat stuff on Bill's point of veiw on the Stones. Great bio's on all the great Blues men and women. A must read. The tv special only scratches the surface of what the book covers. |
