quote: A Bigger Bang
The hilarity of The Rolling Stones concert tickets distributed to Nevada lawmakers by tarnished loan giant Ameriquest continues as they defend themselves. Local columnist John L. Smith captures the spirit perfectly noting:
It's entertaining in a sick way. So many legislators have been caught with their pants around their ankles, yet insist on calling it a fashion statement. But there is no ethical safety in numbers.
Today's revelations include State Senator Bob Coffin who accepted two tickets (reporting the value at $650) took his wife to the concert. No surprise, except that his wife is a UNLV journalism professor who serves on the board of The Nevada Center for Public Ethics. Told this by a Review-Journal reporter, the President for the Nevada Center for Public Ethics was reduced to a single word: "Wow."
Yes, Nevada politics is known for this sort of thing, but before you feel too superior, columnist Smith, points out that Senator Coffin took time from rocking out with his wife to note that the California delegation at the Stones concert was even bigger.

BIG FRIGGIN' DEAL!!! Try living in WASHINGTON, DC...where this stuff happens on a weekly basis...remember...90% of our local news, SHOULD be 100% of the national news...but only 15% actually makes it to the networks!!! |
