Riffhard I just bought a book last week that I think most here would appreciate. The book is titled "Escaping the Delta-Robert Johnson and the Invention of the Blues" by Elijah Wald. It's a comprehensive look into the dawn of the blues, and by osmosiss rock and roll. It just came out and I happened on it at a Barnes & Noble. Great jacket design of the famous RJ photo (painted)with his hat tipped jauntily on his head.

Anyway, the book is great and exposes many myths about Johnson and some of his peers. It also really goes into the marketing of blues and the earliest players of the genre. There's lots of references to the influence that Johson and others had on the Stones,Clapton,Alexis Korener and many others.

So if you are at all interested in the "real" story of Robert Johnson and the early blues acts this book's for you.

Take it from your pal Riffy. This ones good, real good.
