Keith once said, "The Rolling Stones aren't here to break new ground, they're here to be the Rolling Stones". Nethertheless, they have done some quite experimental tracks in their time. I vote for Jumpin' Jack Flash because of the ingenius way the guitars were recorded.
And you?!? |

SHINE A LIGHT |
ok, don't shoot me, i KNOW this is an album.....but i vote for keith's "wingless angels".....i've had this since it first came out and i tend to play it more than anything else. it's so keith, yet so different. (even play it more than "exile"). |

I would have to say Street Fighting Man just because of the way Keith recorded the guitar and drums part. For years I thought that the guitars were electric only to find out they were accoustic recorded through a cassette player.
Sympathy for the Devil also gets a nod just because it was so different for the time. |

The Gazza favorite, Continental Drift, is a pretty good choice. So is Gomper. However, if by experimental, you mean pushing the envelope at the time, As Tears Go By qualifies as their first syrupy ballad though I prefer Play With Fire. Also, their first foray into country (I guess Beggars Banquet) qualifies as well. My vote still goes to Continental Drift.

I'd also go with "Continental Drift". Maybe some of the wackier shit from Satanic Majesties should be considered too. |

"In another land" It is obscure for the fact Bill sings and it is a wacky ass song loud on a nice system! The lyrics are TRIPPPPPPPPPIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! Peace |

Monkey Woman |
Midnight Rambler is pretty experimental too, in a sense.
Says Keith: "When we did Midnight Rambler, nobody went in there with the idea of doing a blues opera, basically. Or a blues in four parts. That's just the way it turned out. I think that's the strength of the Stones or any good band. You can give them a song half raw and they'll cook it."
Yeah! Not too many cooks, here. Will you go back to the kitchen this year, guys? |

I've just rediscovered this song. Funkily addictive. I think its just as good as the highly rated Miss You. I love it! |

Highly rated? Miss You? Er, not by me. Anyway, Dance easily beats Miss You as far as I am concerned. Hell, Keys To Your Love easily beats Miss You . |

It was the longest track on any album at that point. It started an unfortunate trend but that song shouldn't be blamed. It's sublime. |
