ROLLING STONES - STONES TO QUIT RECORD LABEL?
Legendary rockers THE ROLLING STONES look set to become the latest stars to leave crisis-stricken record label EMI. The British band are currently in negotiations to renew their contract with the music industry giants before their five-year deal runs out in May (08). But frontman Sir Mick Jagger is reportedly unimpressed with the turmoil at the company and is now looking for a deal elsewhere, according to British newspaper The Times. A source tells the publication the band are now "considering their options". EMI were bought out last year (07) by capital group Terra Firma and the label has since seen the exit of a host of important artists including Radiohead and Sir Paul MCCartney. The company also announced it is preparing to cut up to 2,000 staff in a bid to reduce costs. The Rolling Stones are not the only artists to express their discomfort at the label - The Verve, Coldplay and Robbie Williams are also alleged to be delaying the release of their new albums until they receive reassurances from the firm.

Voja STONES SIGN ONE ALBUM DEAL
Legendary rockers THE ROLLING STONES have further fuelled reports they are to quit record label EMI after signing a one-album deal with rival company Universal. The British band will release a live CD which was recorded in New York in 2006 to coincide with the launch of Martin Scorcese's Rolling Stones documentary Shine A Light in March (08). The move comes after frontman Sir Mick Jagger reportedly raised concerns over the band's contract with EMI after the company announced it was axing 2,000 staff. The band, which has been with EMI for 16 years, will be free to talk to other labels after that deal ends next month (Feb08).
