Saint Sway Truckers are cool and all but of ALL the Stones songs to rip off... why that one??
18th January 2007 04:54 PM
Fiji Joe I don't hear that...more of a rip off of Honky Tonk Women..all modified and whatnot..It's a better song than Don't stop...by any measure...but clearly they were going for a Stonesy feel...as with Aftermath USA and Faces

You said it yourself...why would they rip off Don't Stop?...you play em' back to back...and use some of the live HTW speeded up a beat...in any event, the same chord progression is not used in the two songs you're comparing...I have, however, heard that same progression in some of the live versions of HTW

Fiji Joe Not even close, given the chords and the timing of the transitions...do you know dick about music?

A
Well you bit my lip and drew first blood

And wore my cold, cold heart

And your wrote your name right on my back

Boy your nails were sharp

I went stumbling through the fog trying to find a reason for the things I told her

She woke up sunny side down and I was still thinking I was too proud to flip her over

Cocaine rich comes quick and that's why the small dicks have it all

Saint Sway nah. Its Dont Stop. Clear as day.

That classic HTW hook is nowhere to be found in that song.

why'd they rip Dont Stop? I dont know man?.... I do know they went out of their way to spit shine their sound and preen their tunes on the ABC record. Why? I dunno. But they did. Its certainly not the old Trucker style

probably just a coincidence or a by product of the new sound
18th January 2007 05:43 PM
glencar Is there a way to hear this song? I'll be impartial.

Some Guy alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this thread.

I agree, the HTW hook is nowhere in that song...but neither is dah dah dah Don't Stop...I was referring to the begining of Gravity's Gone and the verses absent the chorus

And yeah, Blessing and a Curse is a derivative album...there are a lot of rip offs on that record...many different artists...from the Bonus disc When the Well Runs Dry is just another version of some Traveling Wilbury's tune...I blame it all on Isbell

You don't need to hear it...I gave you the chords...it should be as simple as that
18th January 2007 05:51 PM
Dan I haven't heard the DBT song but it obviously has better lyrics.
18th January 2007 05:52 PM
glencar Well, I heard it anyway. I youtubed it. Not much of a resemblance. Countryish.
18th January 2007 05:52 PM
Fiji Joe Here...mind you I said it was HTW sped up...and based on the chord progressions, it's much closer to that than Don't Stop
