I am very proud to say that I finally managed to keep a resolution. It has been 19 days since I have smoked a cigarette!!! That's right folks. I put 'em down for good. The crazy thing is that I have not even really jonesed for a cig at all. Maybe once or twice since Jan 1st I have wanted one,but the sensation only lasts for a couple of minutes. I am very happy about it. At 43 years old I had smoked about a pack a day since I was 16 so it was high time I put those fucking things down. Once I came to grips with the obvious fact that there was nothing at all cool about cigs, and that I was pissing away about seven bucks a day on a habbit that at the end of the day would kill me the choice was a simple one to make. I watched cancer kill my mother, but the addiction of nicotine is a real bitch. Even watching my own mother loose the battle to the Big C didn't keep me from sucking butts for far too long.
The funny thing is that now alot of people that I know that still smoke are trying like hell to downplay the fact that I have put them down! LOL! It's almost funny really. One friend of mine is trying to play it off as I am a quitter because I quit smoking! LOL! I just laugh and say,"You're right bro. I quit that nasty fucking habit, and you can't! Who's the pussy now?!" He cannot handle the fact that he is still addicted to the butts! I hope he puts them down too. I'd hate to have to be a pall bearer at his funeral. He ain't light!

Nice Job Riffy!! You inspire me, I need to put those things down too. I promised myself that I would not smoke in my 40's and guess what, I broke that one. |

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragment. Shockingly the cravings that I had at times before when I had tried to quit in the past are just not there this time. Thank God!

Congrats Riffy! I've never been a smoker but I've seen loved ones try to quit many times. It don't look fun! More power to you!
