Flying Burrito Brother Dies
by Daniel Zugna - January 10 2007
"Sneaky" Pete Kleinow, pedal-steel guitarist for '60s country-rock group Flying Burrito Brothers, has died at the age of 72.
Kleinow died on Sunday in a Californian nursing home from complications following a battle with Alzheimer's disease. He co-founded the Gram Parsons-led group in 1968.
The guitarist quit the band in the early '70s, focusing his musical energies on session work, which saw him play on tracks such as John Lennon's 'Mind Games' and Joni Mitchell's 'Blue'.
Whilst concentrating on working as a visual effects artist in film and television, Kleinow released a handful of solo albums, and formed the group Burrito Deluxe in 2000. His last public performance was in October 2005.
