For those outside the US, THIS could very well be the next President of the United States:

Senator Barak Hussein Obama

I cannot imagine a black candidate getting this close to nomination here in France. It's not even a matter of people refusing to vote for a black guy: he simply would not be allowed to climb the ladder within his own party, because we have this elite system where almost all prominent politicians are born in the same rich districts, go to the same schools and look the same.
So no matter what I think of him from a political viewpoint, I find it cool that he is among the frontrunners.
8th January 2008 10:33 AM
Riffhard This is only the first primary folks! Iowa was merely a caucus. A caucus that may well have ruined Cankles shot at the WH fior sure, but a weird caucus thing all the same. I grant you that Hillary's days look to be winding down, however, it is far too early to claim that Obama is going to be the next president. Once we get to the general election things may well change dramatically. Or the American populace my just be so sick of all the politicos from DC that they throw them all out and vote for a man that has certifiable socialist leanings because they don't know a damned thing about him.

One thing is for sure. The Republicans are going to make damned sure that America knows what Barack Obama stands for. They are going to happily shine a very bright light on his very very socialist views. His weak stance on very important issues like immigration, and the war on terror, and his love affair with raising taxes will be thouroughly exploited by the Republican nominee. As well they should be. Bottom line is that this thing is far from over.

As for Gore? He would not have had a snowball's chance in hell of winning! Scientists form all over the globe are now openly refuting his "the world has a fever, and we're to blame" bullshit! He could never argue away his inaccuracies and flat out lies in his propaganda film about the human causation of global warming. His hypocrisy on the issue is even more stunning, and that would have been made obvious to the American voters. When he left the Vice Presidency he was worth just under 50 million. Now he has turned his bullshit talk about how we are to blame for the peril of the planet into a 180 million dollar fortune. He could never have explained that hypocrisy away.

glencar What surprised me about the Iowa caucus was how the Republicans did that one person/one vote thing & they did it in private. The Dems, who bitch about every election requirement, did a quite undemocratic thing. there was no voting booth, people had to stand with like-minded people & then they had to change their vote if their candidate missed the 15% cut-off mark. Talk about voter intimidation! Typical hypocratic Dems.

glencar Things are looking dire in Clintonland. Count me as another who is happy to see the end of Bush/Clintoon/Bush!

Starbuck riffy!

i look forward to reading your politirants over the next year....

face it...it is barak's election to lose...and i ain't talking about the primaries. if he ousts hillary early on, as it seems he has a good chance of doing, he obviously has the nomination sown up. i feel a grassroots movement coming on with barak...love him or hate him, he is an excellent speaker who communicates well with his audiences, and i bet those that don't normally vote will come out and cast their ballots for him....

as for the pubs...rudy is unelectable, and the party has no other viable major frontrunner. a mccain/obama election would be fookin' awesome, however...a win win.

god bless amoreica!
8th January 2008 01:10 PM
Sioux And, I know this is completely unreasonable, but I have my own little problem with it.....but......aside from Barrack's politics, which are too left for me, I can't get past his name. I often call him "Osama" by mistake. And I know I'm not the only one. Add to that his middle name of "Hussein", and you have 2 terrorists who are/were total enemies of the United States. Now, I KNOW it's only a name...and he certainly can't help his name...but I have a problem with PRESIDENT Barrack Hussein "Osama"....

Reminds me of a joke I heard. Chelsea Clinton went to Iraq and asked one of the soldiers "What are you most afraid of?" He replied "Osama.....Obama.....and yo Momma."

LOL

Well I did preface my last post by saying that many in the populace may well be sick to death of all the politicos and therefore vote for Obama simply as a referendem against the "Beltway Bunch".

I stick by that, and yes, I think Hillary's days are numbered, if not over completely. However, there is a long way to go until November, and there are many things that could very well trip Obama up. Another terrorist attack, or Iran continuing to confront the US Navy in the Persian Gulf could well be his Achilles heal. Not to metion his pencahnt for old school Democrat tax and spend practices that he loves.

Change is a great thing for sure. This time around many are sick of the status quo and the bitter partisanship, but what is really different about Obama? Other than talking a good line and looking good where is this big "change"? He has been spouting this mantra of change ad nauseum but, to date, has offered up nothing concrete as an example of this so called change.

We shall see how things shake out. I will say that the Republican field is way more open than is the Dems. Super Tuesday in February will most likely determine the Repub nominee, and I wouldn't be shocked to see Thompson's stock rise around that time. That is if he's still in the race. Should Cankles fall by the wayside there will be a long time to reel Obama in by the Republican nominee, and shine a light on his socialist values. One cucaus and one primary does not a president make.

Starbuck achilles heal? is he sick? (CaaaaRACK!)

we all know that the "change" barack is speaking of is figurative...besides building goddamn condos, no one has any real concrete new ideas that can extricate us from bushie43's failed mideast policies...or cut down the trillions of dollars in debt we have spent since 03...or fix the ozone hole...or iran...or the fact that we still don't have season 3 of battlestar galactica on frickin' DVD yet. no spoilers please! the change is the new face dealing with old problems.

CrissCrossMind Oh isn't it great ... The Times They Are A Changin" ... again ... all you hear in the sounds bites ... Change ... Change ... but I would suggest change just for the sake of change is too simple minded for a national election ... the Big "O" has done a great job of painting ... Clinton as part of the Old Boys Club ... even with her being the first woman with a real chance to win a Nomy ... I did not say election ... the first of anything will be between a rock & a hard place to win ... I like the fact the Clinton's ... like the Rolling Stones ... at least for 60th Birthday Parties ... the Big "O" reminds me of a Peanut Farmer with his vast array of experience ... CCM

See...that's not close to true...many of these candidates have articulated their stances on these issues if not have a well established track record on these same issues...Nothing stops Obama from articulating what he thinks about these issues...nothing...well nothing other than the risk of sounding like a dumb ass and losing votes...

Riffhard What really does scare me about him is the simple fact that he is appealing to many young and otherwise apolitical types. In other words he appeals to folks that have no clue as to what he's really all about nor do they care. Last time that happened we had to deasl with the most corrupt presidency in US history. At least we won't have to deal with the wife of said president!

pdog Bush's days are numbered, see my countdown clock. YES! America, our long national nightmare is almost over. Don't beleive one word anyone says about our next president, whoever it may be, whatever party they are from. socilist, libertarian, Jesus freak or fence sitting escaped POW. The next president is following in the steps of the worst ever. America wins, no matter who follows the retard who sold the show to with no bid contracts, farmed out our jobs overseas and allowed our country to be attacked b/c they were too busy to read security intel reports or keep intel in place from the previous admin.
There's alot of great knowledgable posters ere, friends, but I feel when it came to this last term especially, they bought into soundbites and rhetoric. I love them to death, but when it comes to more soundbites, blasting democrats, I seriously can't read their posts without laughing. They are just blasting Dems, attacking characters, and don't seem to really support the Republicans, who by the way, seem to hate Bush or at least are acting like he doesn't exist. They know like most americans, Bush fucked up Am1erica on so many levels. Health Forrests, Clean air, no Child Left Behind... Pfft!!! If you name a bill with those titles, it's pretty obvious you're not about what it is called... Especially when you appt. the assholes that were apptd over these last 7 years. How do I take serious a blast on gore's character, when Bush had a guy from the logging industry making policy to supposedly protect forrests???? America is socialist in many ways... big deal! public schools, libraries, police and fire depts to name a few... The ignorance that privitazation of our miltary and intelligence isn't dangerous, is dangerous. Blackwater has its own fucking army and intel that is mirroring our CIA... and people are worried about a socialized healthcare? How about a coup and/or secret police. Especially since alot of our rights were handed away in fear. Yup, so radial fuckturd is trying to kill you, but they don't have to be a muslim male aged 20 or 30 something, they could be a 50 plus year old white male greedy for power.
Bush fucked us up, so bad, that even Mitt Romney, or Edwards would be be better!!! Let's not forget that, and let's not use soundbites and one liners to move forward. And defending Katrina and Iraq is not a good way to blast the dems... Bush fucked up, so bad, he's been drinknig again. He's was a dry drunk anyway... Which proves something I knew, his faith and religion was something he used to get elected, because he turned on evangelicals too. His wife has done everything except officially leave and divorce his ass. She actually does have faith, and moral conviction, even though she smokes like a chimney and hides it in shame.
I'm ranting, hopefully no one has any hurt feelings, I'm just sick of Bush!!! Sick of the bullshit... I'm sick of this process that ignores half the candidates. Even if cadidates are polling at 1 or 2% doesn't matter, those voices still are heard in a true democracy!!!
Bless America!!! Vote, Be Free!!!!
8th January 2008 02:16 PM
CrissCrossMind will the Big "O" use ... NEW WAVE by Against Me ... as his Song of the Year??? ... "I'm looking for the crest, I'm looking for the crest of a New Wave!!!!" ... "are you ready for brand new directions??? ... come on wash these shores away" ... CCM
