Topic: My Proposed MSG Set List Return to archive
01-16-03 11:59 AM
winter Here my wish for a set list (please note: I tried to stay somewhat realistic by incuding a number of usual tunes, and I know a few of the others are a stretch)

Dance Pt 1
Have You Seen Your Mother Bbay .....
If You Can't Rock Me
Start Me Up
She's So Cold
Don't Stop
Torn and Frayed
Winter
Angie
Gimmie Shelter
Crazy Mama
Before They Make Me Run
Little T&A
Monkey Man
Can't You Hear Me Knocking
It's Only Rock-n-Roll
Honkey Tonk Women

Dear Doctor - B Stage
Mannish Boy - B Stage
Midnight Rambler - B Stage

Brown Sugar
Jumpin Jack Flash
Sympathy for the Devil
01-16-03 01:54 PM
scope We can dream can't we? I am hoping that tonights show is our chance to see some experimentation in the set list. The HBO show will be for the masses. Tonight should be for the hard-core fans. Give us some of the nuggets that were done at some of the theater venues that most of us couldn't get in to.
01-16-03 02:07 PM
winter yes, we can dream - but I am hopeful that they will give us one special nugget for show though

Past experience says yes-

BTB Video - Memory Motel (ruined by Dave Matthews)
VL - Miami - Dead Flowers (and I think Stop Breaking Down with Robert Cray)
Steel Wheels - Salt of the Earth with Axl Rose

A complete cruise control set would be a bit of a bummer given our collective anticipations.

Nellcote Harlem Shuffle gets the nod, one of these shows, as they rehearsed it in Montreal, probably replacing the r & b cuts (Can't Turn you Loose, Love Train) that they've been doing..
01-16-03 02:51 PM
winter Nellcote:

Are you trying to spoil my NYC trip -

wintah
01-16-03 02:54 PM
Nellcote
Spoil what....It's a wicked pissa cut, straight out of '63, Bob & Earl, if I'm correct. Plus it gives Dirty Work the nod....something that's not been done for yeahs...
01-16-03 02:58 PM
winter Nellcote:

And I thought we were friends. Next you're gonna tell me Dave Matthews will join them for that tune. Oh,I think I've just broken out in a rash -

wintah
01-16-03 03:02 PM
Nellcote Get A Grip Man.

Allright, showtime....

MISS YOU, for the 12million time or....
HARLEM SHUFFLE..
See, you can't resist, right?

BTW, my contact from MSG called, he needs a head count.
01-16-03 03:06 PM
Joey " Torn and Frayed
Winter
Angie
Gimmie Shelter
Crazy Mama "

Winter , you make Joey giddy !
01-16-03 03:11 PM
winter Nellcote:

Miss You or Harlem Shuffle? I will take Dance Pt. 1, Slave, Fingerprint File or Emotional Rescue for a funky tune - I know I'm dreaming - but I was scarred in the mid '80s by images of dancing cartoon cats.

As for the head count - looks like its 1 - I guess quality time with JB isn't as big of a draw as we originally anticipated. Be sure to tell the execs at HBO that the show can begin at 9 pm as scheduled.

Ya mooooooooooooooooooooooove it to the left,

wintah

winter Joey:

If we wish it, they will play it -

drinkin the cool aid today,

01-16-03 03:15 PM
Nellcote See, now your jammin....Look, sorry to hear about the Meet/greet. I cannot fathom what could have gone wrong..
Bring 12 X 5 down to meet him, that will go ova good..
Yeah, Dance Pt1 would be good, howeva, does my suggestion still have a NYC theme?
See, that's the ticket...
01-16-03 03:15 PM
Joey " If we wish it, they will play it -

Amen my Brother ,wouldn't it be cool if Keith sings " Coming Down Again " during his set ??????? On National Television -- Now THAT would piss the Queen off for sure .

I don't have a floor ticket, but if I can get down there tonight, I'm gonna try to find him. Section 3, row N, he said, but no seat number
01-16-03 03:22 PM
winter Nellcote:

How's this for a New York theme:

Mick: "Hey man, what am I doing standing on the corner of West __ and 6th? Avenue"

Keith: "Are you lost?"

Mick: "Keith, whatcha, watcha doin"

My apologies to all for butchering the exact words, but you get the point.

Joey:

To hear Keith mutter "stick my tongue in someone else's pie" - that my friend, would be worth the price of admission-

Wintah

nankerphelge It is the Year of the Pie -- it could happen!!

parmeda Scope...
jb should be EASY to find in that crowd...tell him I said 'hi', LOL.

Have a GREAT time tonight!
01-16-03 03:28 PM
Nellcote Scope, yes! We'd all like to know if he has contacted Cohl yet, to express his dissatisfaction on how Cohl is handling the tour. I'm sure he's has time while in NYC.
Have a great time at the show yourself!

".....and have the entire audience sing along in unison .

Kinda reminds me of that "I'd like to teach the world sing" coke commercial

I am tearing up as I type,

winter Nanky-

"the year of the Pie" - good god man, this is good news! I think I shall celebrate tonight-

wintah
01-16-03 04:07 PM
Nellcote Does he mean Pie Mckenzie, Bruins Star?
01-16-03 04:08 PM
nankerphelge Oh yeah! Under the Stonesian calendar -- a lesser known calendar used in certain circles -- it is indeed the Year of the Pie.

Yes indeed -- I have the page-a-day version.
Today's saying:

Shave it
Squirt it
Just don't hurt it!

01-16-03 04:38 PM
scope That's it. Day is over. I am outta here and on my way to Walter's. I'll let JB know you were all asking for him. Look for some thoughts/reviews tomorrow sometime.

01-16-03 05:04 PM
Joey Wasn't it Al Stewart who sang " Year of the Pie " ?????
01-16-03 05:35 PM
Nasty Habits I thought Al Stewart sang "Pie in a Bottle".

01-16-03 09:11 PM
Nellcote OK Wintah.....

You don't care for Harlem Shuffle....

Well, how about Star, Star....NY Theme there fer sure...

Bluzian Personally, I still hold true that I firmly believe taht the
Stones should encore with:

1) Midnight Rambler
and
2) You Cant Always Get...

It just seems so bloody obvious to me. Are these two songs
not (some of) the best representative songs in their
repetoire? Sure, they could encore with CYHMK, but.. that
would be just over the top.

Anyways.. I liked your proposed setlist! Cheers.

glencar Harlem Shuffle would have been awesome. Alas, there was no funky number at all.

BTW In the St. Louis PPV, Dave MAtthews sang along on "Wild Horsies". It was in Amsterdammit that he ruined MM.
