Topic: Mick Taylor in a John Mayall Tribute CD Return to archive

VoodooChileInWOnderl Posted by Josh (other Josh LOL) at the Parchman Farm mailing list:

The January issue of Ice (the best magazine for music releases, official or otherwise) reports that Debbie Davies, a capable Texas-style blues guitarist, will be releasing a tribute CD to one of her mentors, John Mayall, and that Mick Taylor (and Peter Green) will be participating. The CD is due out February 18th on the Shanachie label.

Dr. Frankenstone In 1981, I saw a reunuion of the "original" Bluebreakers
(the after Clapton version) with John Mayall, Mick Taylor, and John McVie at the Roxy in Los Angeles. John McVie was completely wasted, stomping around the stage barefooted, but playing bass like a true master. Mick Taylor was so fucking incredible...WOW!!! The stuff he played made a deep impression on me as an aspiring young guitar player.
They even played an intense version of Brown Sugar. Listen to him playing with the Bluesbreakers live before he joined the Stones, and you will be enlightened as to why Keith chose him as a replacement for Brian Jones.
