She soared to the top of the charts with hits such as Anyone Who Had A Heart and My World nearly 40 years ago, and now Cilla Black, the doyenne of British TV light entertainment, has returned to the recording studio.
Last week, the 58-year-old Blind Date and Surprise Surprise presenter recorded the vocals for a club version of her popular track Step Inside Love at the studio of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood. The disc is due to be released next year.
To celebrate her four decades in the business, Cilla is also planning a new album of easy listening tunes. She is also in talks over bringing out other remixes of her biggest hits.
In recent years she has concentrated on her role as a TV presenter, but now says that after a period of mourning for her beloved husband Bobby she feels strong enough to try ventures outside TV.
She has re-recorded Step Inside Love and the plan is to do a release for clubbers and see how it goes, says her son and manager Robert Willis. If people like it, then we could do something more along those lines. If they dont, then it will have been a bit of fun.
For the past few years she has been having a tough time, but this is a new Cilla you are seeing, a Cilla who is having a great time and more power to her, he adds. I think she is an inspiration to any woman who has lost her husband.
