IanBillen They all are the glue. Charlie is the most sacred. He's like the engine on a ocean liner. It is not the most up front aspect of a trip. Not every average joe would even think of it initially but it is the steady, sure, true, and rock solid component keeping the ship afloat and rolling along. Same is true for Charlie with our Rolling Stones. He may not be the most obvious to the every day individual but we real fans know just how very important Charlie is.

*This pretty much sums it up:
Charlie is the only Rolling Stone in their 40 odd year history that will never get challenged when he makes a decision or casts his opinion on something concerning the band. Bottum line is that Charlie may not speak up, or say alot.....but when he does, that decision is final and not argued. The Stones themselves hold more respect for Charlie than any other member in The Rolling Stones history. It has always been this way. The reasons are obvious. The dude is mint.

Ronnie keeps Mick and Keith going ok when things get hairy. Mick and Keith are so incredibly different (yet in the same vain) and they are so stubborn.
The two do not like to be told they are wrong about anything. A very, very, touchy songwriting partnership. Ronnie smooths this out and relieves tension in the band.

Keith is the Rock n Roll Machine....what eles can you say?

Mick has this ever lasting energy that keeps the band moving forward without getting snagged.

They all contribute to the glue in their own way.

Ian

In order :

1) The pursuit of money
2) Ego and a large competitive streak
3) They still enjoy playing and they're still pretty good at it
4) At this stage in their lives, they're hardly going to take up embroidery as an alternative pursuit
