aussiestonesfan Absolutely fantastic band. 3rd only behind the Beatles and Stones. Cosmo's Factory, Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys are definitely in my favourite albums of all time, not a bad one on these albums and barely a bad one on any of their albums. I play all of them constantly.

I saw John Fogerty in 2004, was a terrific night. Sounded great and the setlist of all the CCR classics and his great solo stuff was fantastic. Would recommend any CCR fan, or any fan of rock n roll to go and see him. 2nd best show I've ever seen, second only to the Stones.

I thought this thread might be about the band Green River in which case they certainly had that potential and spawned great American rock bands like Mudhoney and to a lesser extent Pearl Jam and Mother Love Bone. I am going to have to dig out my CD.

Sir Stonesalot Best US Rock Bands....hhhmmmmm...CCR? Uhhhhhhhhh....not even close IMO.

In no particular order...

Ramones
Stooges
New York Dolls
MC5
Replacements
Pixies
Neil Young & Crazy Horse(Yes, I know Neil is Canadian...but the Horse isn't.)
James Brown & The Famous Flames
Johnny Cash & the Tennesee Two
Bob Dylan & His Band(Not THE Band, as they are Canadian, I'm talking the TOOM/L&T band.)

I could keep typing a long time before I get down to CCR....

I wasn't really talking about the sound. What I mean is that the band is instantly recognizeable just like the stones. They have a very distinguished sound and voice.

Agree

My top five list:

  • Mothers of Invention
  • Mothers of Prevention
  • Frank Zappa and the Mothers
  • The Mothers
  • Las Mothers

glencar I liked CCR when I was but a lad. I dropped them as I entered into manhood. I agree with SS's list. Or nanatod's list. Any list that doesn't ahve CCR on it. And that John Fogerty crap since he left CCR? Pure crap.
