Dylan treat for Stones fans
By Dino Scatena
January 16, 2003

AFTER a month-long holiday in the Caribbean, it was
back to the office
for Sir Mick Jagger this week.
He is winding up the US leg of the Rolling Stones'
Licks world tour
before leading his rock 'n' roll circus our way next
month.

"We're looking forward to coming down there," Jagger
said yesterday
from
New York.

"It should be a laugh. I went through the Far East
part of the schedule
last night and I thought, 'Geez, it looks like quite a
lot of work'.

"It's going to be quite exciting and totally different
to touring in
the
US."

The Rolling Stones have chartered a jumbo jet for the
Australian trip.

They will arrive with a crew of more than 200 people,
including
families
and friends.

Tickets go on sale this morning for a third arena
concert in Melbourne.

A third Sydney date is expected to be announced soon.

Sydney fans might be in for an extra surprise with a
guest appearance
from another legendary performer.

Bob Dylan is playing in Sydney in the same week as the
Stones.

Jagger said there was every chance the two acts could
join forces for a
couple of songs.

"We did shows with him on the last tour," Jagger said.
"We were in
Argentina together, and we did some shows in France
together.

"And we've done duets, as much as you can do duets
with Bob. Apparently
he's doing Brown Sugar (a Stones' song) in the set."

During recent shows in America, the Stones did a
version of Dylan's
Like
a Rolling Stone.

Jagger's mind has also been on Australia recently for
an entirely
different reason - cricket.

"Oh, don't talk about the Ashes tour," he said with a
moan.

"I'm glad England won the last Test because that would
have been a
disaster, otherwise.

"I felt really sorry for England going out there
because they had so
many injuries - it was unbelievable."

gypsymofo60 Thanks for that fmk! I'm glad to see more shows are being added. Unfortunately for fellow poms like myself England's recent form in the cricket is nothing new against Australia, I seriously wonder if England will ever win the ashes again in my lifetime, still 8 years ago I said to my wife; "We have to go, The Stones will NEVER tour Australia again".....I guess there is always hope.

fmk438j I am not one of these people that enjoys seeing australia flog other teams again and again. I want to see england and sri lanka win these one day games. I think our team gets way to cocky and arogant. See the way hayden spat the dummy smashing the glass in the door after he got out in the 5th test? They need some major lessons in loosing gracefully, and england does that very well you'd have to say.

You say you're a pom but you have been here for years right?
