good luck with your '78 search - aside from the 30 minutes from New Orleans and the Saturday night Live-related material, it seems evident that virtually no video from the great Some Girls tour is in general circulation... |

Why do the Stones ignore the '78 tour so much?
If you read a Life on the Road, I see maybe 2 pics in the whole book from that tour. No video to speak of. No official live tunes other than Whip on Sucking in the 70s.
Wyman's book has a bit more, but sheds no light at all on why they treat it like a red-headed step child.
Sure it was rag-tag. And it was only about a month long. And sometimes they sucked. But one listen to Handsome Girls and you can just feel how good they were when they were on.
Play the start of Love You Live and compare it to the start of HG and you can tell immediately that Heroin was out and Coke was in!!

Completely agree with you, Nanker! '75 was pretty good, but unraveled toward the end - '76 was a total bust. '78 was, on a good night, on a par with the salad days of 72/73. Never since or again has it been so raw, intense and ablaze....
Someday (after I'm gone, no doubt), somebody will release a definitive live document from 72 and from 78 and the rest of the world's collective jaw will drop in awe.... |

Totally agree. Supposedly the Handsome Girls shows were professionally filmed (Ft. Worth, Kentucky and Memphis)! But where the fuck are they? I'd kill to see them. |

Yeah they would be quite the prize! |
