My first post, hello everyone:
I guess this question is asked alot. I'm new to the Rolling Stones and enjoy some of their tracks which I have obtained (heh). Now, I'm looking to invest in an album. What albums would you recommend.
Thanks,
PS: Due to financial implications, I'm not really able to get all the albums. Suggest one please! |

Sticky Fingers, Let it Bleed, Some Girls, Beggars Banquet.
You should also get Exile on Main Street, of course, but be aware that this one takes a long while to fully appreciate.

I'm looking at "Let it Bleed", and could possibly buy "Sticky Fingers", as that is only £6.99 (quite cheap for a CD over here...)
Keep the suggestions rolling in!
(Do the 'Stones have sort of greatest hits collection?! THEY SHOULD!) |

They have several best of/greatest hits, 'Forty Licks' being the one with the most songs on it, but it's also missing a lot of what you probably already know/like, and containts a lot of what you probably already own ("heh").

I'd suggest Goats Head Soup. Only because thats the first Stones album I bought. Great album. I actually skipped Its Only Rock N Roll but did pick up Made in the Shade and Black and And Blue but was totally blown away by Love You Live, at which point I emptied the piggy bank and bought the entire back catalogue plus Its Only Rock N Roll.
By the time Some Girls came out I was an 18 year old hopeless Stones fanatic. |

I'd kick off with 'The singles-The London Years' 3cd set good coverage of the 60s and get 40 licks, then buy the studio releases as you please. I started with a couple of compilations and moved on chronologicaly. |

Start at the beginning with England's Newest Hitmakers and work your way through to A Bigger Bang (yes, that includes buying Dirty Work!) |

Sound advice....Sometimes newbies don't appreciate Exile, it took me 3-7 years on continous loop to realize it's the greatest studio album of all...
